In March, over 12,000 beauty professionals packed into Dublin’s RDS for the annual Irish Beauty Show, making it the most successful in the event’s history.

Over 300 brands were showcased, along with special offers and new product launches with visitors flocking from around the country to be amongst the first to introduce these to their salons.

“I’ve been coming to this show for 10 or 15 years now; you just have to check in and see what’s new and what’s the latest trend that’s going on,” Ailish, a home salon owner from Navan in County Meath told IB.

“I come every year to the Irish Beauty Show and I love it, and this year in particular I’ve found it very good,” Sharon Gilmartin, Director of LaNú MediSpa in Drogheda said. “I’ve spent a lot of money and I’ve been out to the car a couple of times already with bags of stuff so it’s a sign of a good show!”

The event also proved a valuable resource for therapists looking to open their own salons. “I’m starting up my own business and I really do feel it’s a great place to make contacts, from accountancy to products to treatments,” commented Michelle Nugent from Dublin.

The Irish Beauty Show was also a great success amongst exhibitors. “I think it’s a great show and the Irish market is a wonderful place to be. People are so friendly and we’ve had a really great response here,” said Celia Rose of Dermalogica.

“It’s nice to see some new brands and the existing brands that continue to support the show year after year,” Ollie Jones of Crownbrush commented. “This show we’ve been particularly busy, we’ve had our brand ambassador So Sue Me – Susan Jackson – on the stand; the crowds have been immense!”

“I think it’s a great platform for you to display your products and meet your existing customers and new customers and there’s great potential to develop new business relations,” Michelle McCarthy of Hennessy Hair and Beauty Supplies, who were exhibiting OPI and Rica Wax, amongst other lines, told us.

Danielle Randall of Platinum Skin Distribution, who exhibited Nimue Skin Technology, said: “It’s been an absolutely excellent show for us; we’ve signed up a good few new salons, loads of interest in the

brand, and quality customers are coming through the doors so we’re delighted. I’ve already booked my space for next year!”

Marissa Carter exhibited her Cocoa Brown tan at the show, with the TV beauty expert commenting: “I’ve been to (the show) every year as a visitor and this is our second year exhibiting and we’ll definitely be back next year. We used the Irish Beauty Show this year to launch three new products; we’ve had a phenomenal amount of feedback on the products which is invaluable to the brand.”

The Beauty School showcased HD Brows, LVL Lashes and the MiniMi Wrap, with demonstrations throughout the show. Founder Elizabeth Feehan told us: “It’s been brilliant, much better than any of the other shows we’ve been to, because we would do this show and we do another show in October but definitely this show is the best.”

Graham Quinn, MD of Graham Anthony Ltd enthused: “We’ve had a really, really good day, it’s been very, very busy. We’ve had a lot of enquiries for both of our skin care brands, Decléor and Payot, so I’m very, very happy.”

Lloyd Naake of airbrush cosmetics specialists, Airbase added: “It’s a fantastic show, this is the fourth or fifth year we’ve exhibited at the Irish Beauty Show and we’ve been back every year. It’s a great place to launch products; it’s the only place you can really hit salon owners in Ireland and I think everybody comes to this event. It’s perfect.”

Samuel Sweet of Sweet Squared, distributors of CND nail products told IB: “The show today has been an astronomical success for us. Overall the show’s exceeded our expectations this year.” What would he say to anyone thinking of exhibiting or visiting next year? “Get in there; this is the place to be, definitely!”
