Product Focus - Security & Surveillance Systems

Security and surveillance continues to be a growing sector within the defence industries - from new technologies and product development to future capabilities and cyber security. Product Focus highlights some of the latest security and surveillance news from around the world.

Single mast solution

Kelvin Hughes is launching a system that pulls all its surveillance technologies together in a simple fully integrated and deployable platform.

Called Single Mast Solution, it is a fully mast mounted radar and electro-optical sensor security and surveillance system, enabling the lightweight SharpEye SxV radar from Kelvin Hughes and almost any electro-optical or other capable sensor to be co-located on a single mast or mount, cost effectively, easily and quickly for mobile (i.e. vehicle mast

Optimal cyber defence

Risk management and security experts Optimal Risk have a clear strategy of preventative action for the increasing risk of cyber security breaches. The rise of espionage in the cyber domain has shown that information is not secure, and e-sabotage is a growing threat to process industries; industry needs to move from ‘security’ to ‘defence’.

With this in mind, Optimal Risk offer two forms of defence services: Pre-emptive defence and Pre-active defence. Both

need to be seen as different ‘doctrine-based’: Pre-emptive defence on the assumption that active measures will anticipate current threats and are prepared to repel attacks, based on relevant threat intelligence, preparation and testing of response measures, and a ‘developed’ detection > response doctrine. Pre-active defence on the assumption that effective defence requires a pre-prepared, active plan to deter, ‘counter-act’ or engage threats as part of an active

cyber defence doctrine. Optimal Risk believe that organisations need to prepare conditions that will allow active methods to provide advantage, out-manoeuvre adversaries, negate threats, and prevail in any engagement.

A dynamic defence requires ‘conceptual mobility’ and defence-in-depth, to afford the ability to respond quickly and effectively - precisely what Optimal Risk offer with their Advanced Cyber Defence services.

integrated), semi-permanent (i.e. Forward Operating Bases) or permanent (i.e. critical national civil infrastructure perimeters) security and surveillance applications.

The core elements of the system is a through mast solution, full pan and tilt camera/sensor assembly, electro-optical cameras and Kelvin Hughes’ state of the art SharpEye SxV radar. Kelvin Hughes’ own control and integration software, CxEye, provides complete control of the security and surveillance system.
