Land vehicles have long been an established presence at DSEI - here we take a particular look at new product launches, Research & Development, and news within the security and defence vehicles industry.


Seismic Cristanini launch LMV sensor system


The Polus - STS Roadscan system is set to be launched in the next six months. This new system has been created around the placement of seismic sensors in exposed locations, and is designed for monitoring road sections and other areas vulnerable to IED attacks and mining.


These sensors register and accumulate seismic activity events and the characteristics of mine or IED placement. The system proposes that as a convoy vehicle approaches a vulnerable area, the personnel onboard may download the sensor log of events from a distance of several hundred metres using RF communication. The Roadscan system consists of an onboard monitor - either a laptop or tablet PC with running GIS RB software equipped with a GPS receiver, a communication unit, and an unlimited number of Sensor Sets. Each Sensor Set consists of one repeater (RS-U in repeater mode) and up to seven seismic sensors (RS-U in seismic mode).


Polus - STS has previously launched its Mobile System and Radiobarrier Wireless Intrusion Detection System.

Weighing a total of 7,400 Kg, Cristanini SPA’s newly launched Light Multirole Vehicle (LMV) for CBRN Recce, Survey & Scene Assessment (RSSA) for Defence and Civil Protection offers an innovative option in the field of decontamination and recce vehicles.


With air filtration, crew collective protection and Chemical, Biological and Radiological detectors, the vehicle’s crew can remain fully protected inside whilst sampling is undertaken in safety with automatic marking of the contaminated area with marker flags. Functions of the vehicle include; the ability to detect and identify CBRN


contamination and provide hazard warning, identify contaminated areas, establish contaminated area perimeters and ground dispersion relapse, seek out and establish tactical corridors and exit safety itineraries, reduce contamination exposure, area monitoring and recognition (surveillance and detection), meteorological information system, report and management of the acquired data (in accordance with NATO Stanag ATP 45 D) relating to the product samples and the sampling of solid, liquid and urban surfaces (with optional kit).


The vehicle is also compatible with C130J (HERCULES) aircraft tactical flight.
