AG Electronics has restructured its range of ASTARES linear LED light sources, meaning that standard
applications for linear and plane
lighting can be met with just four versions. This has been achieved by enabling each of the ASTARES linear models to driven at different currents (350mA and 700mA), so that each can offer two light outputs. ASTARES linear light sources are available as high efficiency LED alternatives to replace linear fluorescent tubes, making them ideal for inclusion in new luminaires as well as retrofitting to existing modular recessed fittings. The range comprises four versions, offering lumen outputs from 500lm to 1,100lm for 300mm versions and 1,000lm to 2,200lm for 600mm versions, in colour temperatures of 830K or 840K. All ASTARES light sources offer a life of 50,000 hours with no more than 10% failures (B10) while maintaining at least 80% of lumen output (L80) during that time. They are also Zhaga Book 7 certified to facilitate future upgrades. ASTARES linear light sources are supplied with push-in terminals with a release key for ease of installation manually or by ADS robots. They also incorporate electrical protection against miswiring.

esolving compatibility issues between LEDs and dimmers just took a giant leap forward with the unveiling of the NEW Hamilton LEDstat – an intelligent LED dimming device which monitors and programmes itself for best performance, depending on the LED lamps used, making it compatible with a wide variety of lamp types. The LEDstat intelligent dimmer is ‘phase adaptive’ which
means it ‘Thinks’ before it ‘Acts’. Its sophisticated microprocessor analyses the connected LEDs and determines the best dimming curve necessary to achieve maximum performance – either leading or trailing edge. When first powered on, LEDstat commences its analysis and emits a short series of audible beeps to confirm when the process is complete. The new LEDstat dimmer module is of a similar size and design to a standard dimmer and therefore can be mounted onto the same wide choice of Hamilton faceplate designs and finishes. Wiring these modules is straightforward.

he Sloane Stanley Estate, one of the most prestigious landowning estates in Chelsea, owns and manages hundreds of commercial and residential properties. The Estate is proactive in its approach and always puts the needs of its tenants and residents first. This has been underlined in a lighting project for a parade of retail outlets at 300-348 King’s Road where KNX lighting control technology, developed by KNX Consultants, has been used as the backbone of a highly innovative facade lighting scheme. “KNX has proven to be extremely effective for this project.
One of its beauties is its flexibility," says Richard Everett, Estate Manager for Sloane Stanley. "It can be easily linked to other protocols such as DALI and, as a globally accepted technology, KNX is fully supported by many manufacturers and will be right into the future. This is the kind of long term stability that Sloane Stanley needs when it comes to specifying building services and home automation products."
