Product News 37 Hubbard expands condensing units range
HUBBARD Products has added 17 new Twin Scroll Compressor models to its successful range of ETL approved Zenith and Zenith Digital Condensing Units. Available in two case configurations, large and small, single or three phase, digital or non- digital, the medium temperature units all feature twin low energy EC fans and are suitable for R404A, R407A and R407F refrigerants.
The condensing units offer seamless variable capacity from 10% to 100% directly reflecting the duty requirement at any given time by giving an energy efficient and responsive performance. By incorporating variable temperatures, the units allow multiple close door runs of chiller cabinets, offering realistic energy savings when cabinet doors remain closed overnight or at times of low footfall and real-time requirement.
The Zenith Twin Scroll Compressor Condensing Units also offer a range of ‘green’ options, including the ability for heat reclaim to water that has been successfully introduced by a number of Hubbard’s retail and hospitality sector clients and is now available to all users. Hubbard Products
Keeping competition cool in Sochi
BITZER’S CSH and HSK screw compressors have helped meet the air conditioning and refrigeration needs of five stadiums at this year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi. Bitzer worked with Finnish company Suomen Tekojää Oy and supplied a total of 35 CSH and
HSK screw compressors. The 26 CSH and nine HSK compressors ensured that the refrigeration and air conditioning systems provided by Suomen Tekojää Oy worked seamlessly. At the ice hockey Shayba Arena four CSH (ice surface) and six CSH compressors (air conditioning) were used. At the ice hockey training stadium four CSH and two CSH compressors were needed. In the figure skating training stadium four CSH and two CSH compressors were used. For the curling arena three HSK (ice surface), three HSK (air conditioning) and three HSK compressors were required for either function. Finally four CSH compressors were used in the bobsleigh training stadium. Bitzer
Advanced air conditioning controller
MITSUBISHI Electric has launched what it says is one of the most advanced energy monitoring centralised air conditioning controllers available, to provide building operators and estate managers with complete control over energy use from one location. The EB-50 centralised controller offers web-
based control and monitoring of up to 50 air conditioning systems and complete compatibility with the company’s M Series, Mr Slim, City Multi and Lossnay ranges of equipment.
Sebastien Desmottes, controls expert at Mitsubishi Electric, said: “Not only can all equipment be automatically monitored, with scheduling programmes changed, operators will also be able to use the controller to completely control and manage the energy that their systems are using at any one time.”
The controller’s ethernet port enables connection to BEMS interfaces, graphical representation of energy use, energy consumption targets, downloadable energy data files and energy data stored to enable historical trend analysis. Mitsubishi Electric

GRAM has launched a competition to celebrate the launch of its SUPERIOR Plus 72 cabinet, which has a “super low energy consumption” of just 329kW. Operators are invited to enter into a prize draw to win an UP! 3D printer by unlocking a ‘time capsule’ at Gram’s stand (2441) at Hotelympia. Visitors go to
www.gogreenwithgram.co.uk and enter some details to receive a unique code. They then need to bring their code to Gram’s stand at the show, between 28 April and 1 May , at London’s ExCeL, to be entered into the prize draw.
Gram UK managing director, Glenn Roberts, said: “For over 100 years Gram has set the benchmark for energy efficient refrigeration, and with the Superior Plus 72 Gram has raised the standard above and beyond once again.

In addition to its green credentials, the Superior Plus 72 comes with a five year parts and labour warranty and is available at the same price as models in Gram’s existing Plus range. Gram
Coolflow offers non-toxic performance
HYDRATECH says that its Coolflow range of secondary refrigerants and inhibited antifreeze solutions for process and acr systems offers greater freeze protection, more efficient heat transfer and non-toxicity than other systems. Many of Hydratech’s customers face the dilemma of choosing between the high performing, but toxic properties of ethylene

glycol, or the safer but less efficient propylene glycol. In cooperation with Evans Cooling Systems, Hydratech has developed the DeTox additive which renders Ethylene Gycol non-toxic. Coolflow DTX, formulated with the DeTox additive, enables companies and organisations in the food and beverage industry to benefit from the properties of Ethylene Glycol without risk. Hydratech’s clients include Waitrose, Diageo, Lidl, Arla and Warburtons. Energy and cost savings are significant as Coolflow DTX offers greater freeze protection for less volume, while its superior heat transfer properties enable systems to run more efficiently, reducing energy consumption.
