ACR Show Review 21
tools from Mastercool, Testo and Draper, plus cleaning fluids, consumables and leak detector sprays.
The past 12 months have seen high sales of own-branded copper consumables – so far selling in the thousands in 2013 alone – as well as a range of copper spun driers, capillary tubing and Kaiflex.
Dr Mark Hughes, business development manager at DuPont Fluorochemicals, was impressed by the standard of enquiries at the show.
He commented: “There were many questions regarding the impact of the new F-Gas regulations on commercial refrigeration and we were pleased to be able to offer visitors to our stand a range of solutions using our new Opteon refrigerant range.
“In particular our HFO-based blend Opteon XP40 to replace R404A in existing or new equipment, generated a lot of interest with its low GWP and A1 safety rating, making this a key product in allowing industry to meet the HFC phase down targets which will start to hit in the next few years.”
“Our Greenzone Survey’s Team had a great time at the show this year,” commented Ian Campbell, director of Greenzone. “We were well looked after by the ACR team, we met some great people, and have already benefited from work which came in directly from the show. “Although we had the smallest stand at the show, this did not detract from the amount of interest in the compliance services we offer.
“Most importantly there was enthusiasm for the provision of TM44 air conditioning inspections which are a legal requirement for systems over 12kW – and if used correctly will benefit the end-user by saving money in running costs, reducing energy and carbon emissions.
“We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand, and will definitely be attending the next show.”
IDS Climalife was showcasing its energy efficient and low GWP refrigerants and its range of glycols and heat transfer fluids. Of particular note was Greenway, a biodegradable offering which provides a green alternative to traditional heat transfer fluids.
It does not rely on toxic additives for performance and includes anticorrosive technology based on organic, long-lasting inhibitors.
The next ACR Show will be taking place in Hall 9 of the NEC on 16-18 February 2016. Contact Karena Cooper

Fieldpiece Instruments has added a new wireless, four-port, digital manifold, the SMAN4 to its range.
With four ports and a built-in vacuum gauge, HVACR professionals can now evacuate a system, pull a vacuum, add refrigerant and dial in the charge at one time. There are three standard ¼” ports and one 3/8” port with the bore in the manifold being 3/8” throughout. “Because the SMAN4 measures real-time actual superheat and target superheat at the same time, it’s easier to do the job right,” said Russell Harju, product manager. “So now, system charge is adjusted while the user watches in real- time how the indoor wet bulb and outdoor dry bulb fluctuate and affect the target superheat – without having to walk away from the condenser.
The SMAN4 can also wirelessly send six measurements to the Fieldpiece Instruments HVAC guide system analyser, model HG3. The HG3 then combines the SMAN4 superheat and subcooling with airflow tests to take a snapshot of the entire system in real-time.
“It’s the easiest way to get a full system diagnosis,” added Mr Harju. “And having a full system diagnosis gives HVACR professionals the confidence to know they are maximising the efficiency of all the units they’re working on.
“Ever since we introduced the wireless version of the HVAC guide system analyser, users have been asking when the manifold will be able to transmit its readings wirelessly.
“It’s been hard keeping quiet about such a sought after product, so we’re excited that it’s ready for distribution.”
“Bringing our launch forward to the ACR Show at short notice was a huge risk on our part,” said Mark Crabtree, managing director of Enviroglow. “We had originally planned to launch SolarCool in mid to late March 2014, however we collectively agreed that having the system at the show would be more advantageous, and it certainly was.
“The after-show enquiries that we have received so far have massively exceeded our expectations.”
The SolarCool system claims efficiencies of up to 60% above all others. Manufactured in partnership with the largest DC Inverter Compressor manufacturers in the world, confidence is pretty high.
The worldwide patented technology, originally from the USA, has already been installed across five continents. These include the USA, South America and South Africa and larger corporations such as Pizza hut, McDonalds and Walmart. “We all know energy reduction is high on the agenda for most business owners. Every business wants improved efficiency with a credible return in investment, this is exactly what we offer,” Mr Crabtree added.
