SOUTH MIDWEST
The South Midwest Region Hall of Fame honored its two most recent inductees, Marti Greer and Don Hart, during the 2014 Frost Yer Fanny Award Dinner and Banquet. Marti Greer, with more than 150 triathlons completed and her husband, Mike Greer, are the race directors for the Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs Lake. A USA Triathlon Certified Race Director, she has race directed more than 150 triathlons. Don Hart, a competitor in more than 150 multisport events as well, was an athlete throughout his life but was a world championship level competitor in the later years of his life. The mission of the USAT SMW Hall of Fame is to recognize individuals who have provided the SMW Region with excellence in their personal actions through exceptional athletic skills, leadership, service, support, counsel and coaching. Top candidates each year are recommended by SMW members through a nomination ballot to the Regional Council for installation into the SMW Hall of Fame. To find out more about this process or to nominate an athlete, visit www.smwtriathlon.org/athletes/hall_of_fame/index.htm.

The South Midwest Region Youth Series continues to be a highlight of this region and the 2014 selection of races will continue that tradition. With stops in Oklahoma and throughout Texas, the series will offer youth athletes seven different opportunities to race and score points in the series. This and more athlete information can be found at www.smwtriathlon.org.

Volunteers are always welcome and play a critical role in the success of the region and its goals and objectives. Interested in volunteering for a committee or the council? Contact the South Midwest Region at dukeg@aol.com.
