USA PARATRIATHLON RECEIVES GRANT
USA Paratriathlon is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $65,000 grant from the Given Limb Foundation in order to support the organization’s growing paratriathlon military program.


The funding will help wounded soldiers participate in a five-month training program at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

INSIDE TRIATHLON NAMES URBACH 2013’S MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON
USA Triathlon CEO Rob Urbach topped the Inside Triathlon list of 2013’s 10 Most Influential People in Triathlon, featured in the January/February 2014 issue of the publication.


“I am humbled to receive this honor and to be recognized alongside so many other notable contributors to our sport,” Urbach said. “2013 was a fantastic year for USA Triathlon and the entire triathlon community. I look forward to what 2014 holds.”


Identified as “The Strategist,” Urbach was recognized for his role in a number of organizational successes.


 


MENKE PROMOTED TO CMO
USA Triathlon announced Feb. 14 that Chuck Menke was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer. Menke joined the organization in February 2010 as Director, Marketing & Communications. The announcement was made by Chief Executive Officer Rob Urbach.


 


USAT ACQUIRES NATIONAL OFFICE BUILDING THROUGH MAJOR GIFT
USA Triathlon is pleased to announce that the National Governing Body has acquired its current office building and will remain in Colorado Springs for the foreseeable future. The transaction was due in part to a generous donation from Nor’wood Development Group.


 


ITU LONG DISTANCE TRIATHLON WORLDS HEAD TO OKC IN 2016
The International Triathlon Union (ITU) announced Feb. 7 that USA Triathlon, Friends of Multisport, Inc. and the Redman Triathlon have been awarded the 2016 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships, to be held in Oklahoma City, Okla.

RACE DIRECTOR SYMPOSIUM
USA Triathlon has announced that the 2015 USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium will showcase an engaging new format Jan. 16-18 next year aboard the Disney Dream, a Disney Cruise Line voyage departing from Port Canaveral, Fla.


 


JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT CAMPS

ADDITIONAL USA TRIATHLON ELITE DEVELOPMENT RACES ANNOUNCED
Athletes seeking to qualify for a USA Triathlon Elite License via the draft-legal pathway will have two additional opportunities this summer. WOMEN’S COMMITTEE TO SUPPORT FLANNERY AWARD

TEAM PSYCHO EXTENDS SPONSORSHIP
USA Triathlon and the College Recruitment Program (CRP) are pleased to announce Team Psycho® will continue as a sponsor of the CRP Resident Program for the 2014 season. In this ground-breaking sponsorship program, Team Psycho®, through its Elite Development Program, will provide travel and living expense grants to the six CRP athletes.


 


USAT ADDS PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED OPEN DIVISION GUIDELINES
USA Triathlon has revised its official rulebook to include a groundbreaking new Physically Challenged (PC) Open Division, meant to provide accommodations for those athletes who wish to participate in sanctioned events and do not meet classification or equipment criteria.


 


RACE DIRECTOR CERTIFICATION
USA Triathlon is excited to announce additional 2014 Race Director Certification classes in Albany, N.Y. (April 25-26) and Portland, Ore. (Sept. 19-20) Classes are limited to 20 people.
