USA Shooting Foundation Staff & Athletes Hit The Road To Raise Funds, Awareness
Prior to the start of the 2014 competition season, several USA Shooting Team athletes and Foundation staff hit the road throughout January and Febru- ary attending numerous conser- vation conventions and shooting industry shows - showcasing the sport of Olympic shooting, enhancing our organization’s visibility, supporting our partner- ships with sponsors and con- servation partners, and raising funds to support the USA Shoot- ing Team. The fi rst stop on the 2014
show schedule was the Dallas Safari Club (DSC) Generations Convention in Dallas, Texas. DSC has been a USA Shooting partner and supporter of our ju- nior programs since 2010. This year’s athlete contingent to DSC featured junior medalists from last September’s World Shotgun Championships in Lima, Peru - Miranda Wilder (Diana, Texas), two-time Junior World Cham- pion in Women’s Trap; Ian Rupert (Muncy Valley, Pa.), Junior World Champion in Double Trap; Dania Vizzi (Odessa, Fla.), silver medal-
ist in Women’s Skeet; and former Junior and multiple World Cup medalist, Caitlin Connor (Win- nfi eld, La.). This year’s conven- tion saw record attendance and record fundraising for conserva- tion in addition to DSC becoming the new host of the prestigious Weatherby Award. Following DSC, the team
headed west to Las Vegas to attend the 36th annual SHOT Show. The SHOT Show, owned and operated by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, is not only a great opportunity for the USA Shooting Team to raise awareness within the shooting industry, but also an opportunity to thank sponsors and recognize the industry that’s an integral part of USA Shooting’s suc- cess. During the show, Kimber Manufacturing increased their total lifetime contributions to USA Shooting to over $1.1 mil- lion with a check presentation to team members along with providing a custom Kimber 1911 Team Match II pistol for auction on
GunBroker.com during the NRA Show in April.

Staying in the state of Ne-
vada, the USA Shooting Team headed north to Reno for the “Sheep Show” hosted by long- time USA Shooting partner and supporter, the Wild Sheep Foundation. Team members at- tending the Sheep Show, Frank Thompson (Alliance, Neb.), Amber English (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Connor, Kayle Browning (Wooster, Ark.) and Jake Wallace (Castaic, Calif.), participated in the annual WSF/USA Shooting sporting clays shoot/fundraiser in addi- tion to assisting as “auction run- ners” and providing color guard duties in the Opening Ceremo- nies. At the Saturday night ban- quet, an exciting auction ensued with USA Shooting’s custom Henry rifl e auctioning fi ve times, garnering a total of $85,000 to benefi t the team. Team members Nick Mowrer (Butte, Mont.), Will Brown (Twin Falls, Idaho), Brandy Drozd (Bry- an, Texas) and Miranda Wilder (Diana, Texas) were on hand to greet expo attendees and talk to middle school students partici- pating in the Youth Wildlife and Conservation Experience. WHCE Master of Ceremonies

Shooting Team Foundation would like to thank Henry Re- peating Arms, Baron Engraving and our conservation partners for helping the team raise more than $100,000 through auc- tions at DSC, WSF and WHCE. Henry Repeating Arms generous- ly donated three new production “Original Henry” Rifl es with hand- engraving provided by Baron En- graving, creating a signature look to these unique rifl es. Thanks to all of our partners, athletes, sup- porters and donors for making 2014 a great show season!
