The International Institute for Anti-Ageing (iiaa) has developed a new one-day course, Consult with Confidence, which enhances beauty therapists’ prescribing and sales skills.


The course, held at the iiaa’s five regional centres including Dublin, covers the importance of consultation, how to perform an effective consultation, correct identification of skin conditions and how to write a treatment programme.


Training Manager, Clare Muir told IB: “Our experience shows that if you do an effective consultation and interpret the results accordingly, increased product and treatment sales will follow.”

The Waverley Academy are the first college in Ireland to offer a new ITEC teaching award.


The idea behind the new ‘Education & Training’ award was first introduced in the UK in September 2013, but has recently been mapped in to the Irish framework at Level 6 by the new qualifications authority in Ireland, the QQI.


The new award will be available at The Waverley Academy’s Dublin, Kildare and Cork colleges.

Free Dyslexia workshop for teachers


The Waverley Academy have partnered with the Dyslexia Association of Ireland to provide a workshop for teachers, delivered by Donald Ewing, Head of Psychological and Educational Services at Dyslexia Association Ireland.


Taking place at The Waverley Academy’s Dublin premises on Wednesday 19th March between 2-5pm, the subsidised workshop will be the first of its kind in Ireland to be delivered for those teaching in the FE sectors of Hair, Beauty and Fitness. Places are limited so advanced booking is advised.

Morning training for Mila


Sunaura have announced they are offering free demonstration mornings for beauty therapy students on Swiss skin care line Mila d’Opiz.


The on-campus visits will see a member of the Sunaura team give students a short talk on the brand, followed by a demonstration of one of two facials and then an interactive session to allow the students to try out various products and ask questions.
