here is an old adage in business that if you’re not moving forwards you’re moving backwards. Although the economic climate has made many electrical contracting fi rms concentrate


on simply surviving, others have demonstrated the kind of leadership and entrepreneurial spark that has

allowed them to grow their businesses and tread a path for others to follow. This type of approach often involves going out


of a company’s ‘comfort zone’ and is not without its risks. However, a fl exible and forward-thinking attitude, backed up with the support of the industry’s leading trade body, has led to a number of success stories for ECA members. Two companies spearheading this approach are


Smarta Technologies, a leader in the specifi cation, design and installation of smart home technologies, while Essex-based family-run business, Murley Solutions, has focused on lighting control technology.
