Greater London regional manager Malcolm Conby and his wife, Jill, joined with 7,000 participants in the 2013 Lord Mayor’s Show as London celebrated the arrival of its new Lord Mayor. Malcolm and Jill were part of the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers (WCLM) fl oat, and they joined Master Lightmonger, Bill Wright (ECA head of Energy Solutions), and other liverymen – plus pupils from the Mary Hare School for deaf children and New College Worcester for blind or partially sighted children (WCLM-affi liated) – and walked more than three miles in the rain between Bank and Aldwych. This marked the inauguration of the new Lord Mayor of London – alderman Fiona Woolf CBE is the 686th Lord Mayor of London, and only the second female to hold the post in 800 years. A group of cadets from TS Wizard and 56 (Woolwich)
Squadron ATC provided an escort to the Master’s carriage and WCLM liverymen wore bowler hats with lightbulbs attached. The day fi nished with members of WCLM joining with the Worshipful Company of Paviors, who set off on the barge Erazmus which was moored on the River Thames at Blackfriars Millennium Pier. At the end of the day, they were treated to a magnifi cent view of one of London’s most impressive fi reworks displays.
