Ecospace selected to supply shelving for Hull University’s Brynmor Jones library modernisation

D

ue for completion in Summer 2014, the redevelopment of

the Brynmor Jones Library, a central point on Hull University’s campus, will create a state-of-the-art place of learning for generations to come. Following a competitive

tendering process, Ecospace, the specialist library and mobile shelving supplier, was selected to provide new shelving throughout the redeveloped library. Static shelving, including

magazine display units, has white shelves and yellow glass end panels creating a striking visual effect. To provide space to store books from those floors

on which the new shelving was being installed, a temporary ‘decant area’ was created and fited with FOREG mobile shelving to create maximum storage capacity. This shelving is to be dismantled and reinstalled in the basement with additional mobile shelving and picture racking. Said Judy Wolff, the

Library’s Redevelopment Manager: “We are extremely pleased with the quality of the Ecospace product and the company’s performance.”

SAV PROVIDES LOW ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

A LoadTracker CHP unit and FlatStation heat interface units from SAV Systems are helping to deliver low carbon domestic hot water (DHW), heating and electrical power to the new 264-bed St Michael’s Hall student accommodation at Aigburth Park, Liverpool. The building services were designed by consulting engineers Futurserv on behalf of developers Iliad. The SAV 20kWe/40kWth

CHP unit provides heat for both domestic hot water and space heating in the winter, as well as electrical power that is used on site. The LoadTracker

modulates in response to variations in electrical demand to avoid selling surplus electricity to the grid at unfavourable rates. The 7 Series FlatStations

guarantee optimal comfort for end-users, providing instantaneous hot water at stable temperatures at the taps. Integral temperature and pressure controls also permit very low primary return temperatures to enhance the overall efficiency of the system.
