We pride ourselves on building long- term relationships with our clients so they come back to us with repeat business. They are assured of a high quality service delivery and we provide a fresh impartial perspective on the ‘payroll function’ which will help the organisation in driving the payroll department forward. For more information email
consult@cipp.org.uk. There was also feedback from a number of members who stated that they were not aware of many of the benefits available to them. Therefore, the CIPP has plans to improve our communications with members to ensure that you are aware of all of the benefits and maximise your membership.
One of the planned investments at the
CIPP is in a new membership database. The CIPP’s current membership database is being phased out and will not be supported within the next five years. As a result, the CIPP is reviewing options for a new database and will look for a solution which integrates well with the website, and enables different parts of the database to ‘talk to each other’ so that your experience as a member is improved. To assist us in ensuring that your records are up to date and maintained, we encourage you to keep your details up to date through the member login area of the website. Should any of your details change, please login to the members’ area of
cipp.org.uk and select ‘edit profile’. You can also use this section to select your

Some other interesting information Quite often members contact the CIPP to find out how they compare against others in the industry. The survey asked some demographical questions and the findings are quite interesting: l Nearly 65% of you have payrolls of between 250 and 10,000 employees; with a large proportion (34%) processing between 1,000 and 10,000 employees on the payroll. l Despite working for such large organisations, there is normally between one to three individuals responsible for payroll or payroll related activities within your organisations. l Interestingly, 54% of you stated that your payroll function falls under the responsibility of finance, with 45% saying that pensions sits under HR – this further
highlights the importance of ensuring that payroll, pensions, finance and HR all communicate and work together, especially for automatic enrolment to work. l Two thirds of you spend 50%, or more, of your time on payroll and/or pensions related activities, with the remainder of your time being spent on activities such as: accounting and finance, HR, IT, reward, credit control and admin.
2013 was a huge year for the reward profession and has really projected our roles to the
front of many business plans and activities. With the backing of the CIPP we will continue to see our value and expertise increase. The (annual payroll and pensions) conference was a great opportunity to see the reality of this and enjoy the passion and excitement for the opportunities ahead of us.
