A Stylish Approach to Disarmament

While From War to Peace’s castings aren’t the biggest around, the jewelry

manufacturer has hefty intentions. Te San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based company hopes to promote world peace with its line of jewelry cast from metal that was once a part of the United States’ nuclear arsenal.

From War to Peace uses copper from U.S. missile sites in Grand Forks, N.D., and Sharpy County, Neb., that was in cabling prepared to deliver launch signals to nuclear-armed Minuteman III missiles. Te so-called “Peace Bronze” is cast into necklaces, bracelets, earrings—and even “Beers Not Bombs” bottle-openers. Te company pledges to donate 20% of its profits to peace and social justice organizations.
