MEANWHILE IN... EASTERN EUROPE
Games fi rms in the region are concentrating their eff orts on female MMO players, as engagement with free-to-play titles increasing
DIGITAL gaming dominates the Eastern European market, with female gamers a growing audience for fi rms in the region, according to SuperData Research. The games industry in Eastern Europe is rapidly expanding thanks to social titles and free- to-play MMOs. Russia, Turkey and Poland are the biggest territories and between them account for $1.9 billion (£1.13bn) of the estimated $2.2 billion (£1.31bn) in digital games revenue generated in the region annually.
Despite this, SuperData states that smaller Eastern European
markets are becoming key for publishers hoping to break into the industry, as their growth outpaces the larger Russian and Turkish markets. Many games creators aiming for success in the region
are localising titles for female players, who comprise one of the most active MMO-playing demographics in Russia, Turkey and Poland.
