here’s no shortage of choice when it comes to test and measurement equipment, and sometimes the sheer volume of products on offer can appear overwhelming. For most
electrical contractors, a test instrument represents a significant financial investment, so it is advisable

to carry out some research before making a final purchasing decision.
State of affairs Although there is always a requirement for their products, as with most other parts of the construction sector, vendors of test and measurement equipment have had to cope with challenging conditions. This has also meant that contractors are trying to get as much mileage out of their devices as possible. ‘Electrical contractors have had a tough few
years now and, as such, have held on to their testers longer than in the past,’ comments Simon Wood, UK wholesale and distribution sales manager at Megger. ‘Upgrading or updating a tester has not been a priority. However, there will always be a number of testers that need to be replaced as they reach the end of their life so, although there has been no real growth, the market has remained fairly stable.’
