Electrical design made easy
The designgenie software package can provide a user-friendly, scaleable and cost-effective design solution for electrical contractors – and ECA members can now try it out for free
lectrical design can often intimidate or baffle many electrical contractors who have not had any training or experience in design. That’s meant that many contractors have had to hire in electrical designers to develop
designs on new projects. designgenie represents a new approach to
electrical design by making it more accessible to electrical contractors than ever before. The software has been developed by the
ECA, in conjunction with a leading Norwegian software developer. A working group of ECA power committee members, ECA member companies and
independent consultants worked with the developer to create a package that met the needs of smaller and larger UK electrical contractors in one neat package. The package has a 20-year pedigree and has been so successful in Scandinavia that it has become adopted as the standard in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. By integrating the best of these European
electrical engineering standards, the ECA has been able to develop the most comprehensive and best value electrical design software available anywhere in the UK.
FREE trial for ECA members designgenie is now available to all ECA members as a no-obligation free trial, worth more than £350. For any ECA members who are unsure whether or not to renew their current electrical design software licence with another supplier next year, the trial allows them to review an alternative package first. The free trial is being offered up to April 2014.
Intuitive and easy to use The package is intuitive and engineer-friendly, so there’s no need to be a qualified designer or hire in an electrical designer. designgenie allows contractors to design their own electrical installations, saving time and money and helping them to win new contracts.
Flexibility and scalability The flexibility of the software is such that it enables users to carry out full electrical design and calculations to the requirements of BS7671, catering for the smallest domestic installation to the largest commercial or
industrial project. It even handles single cable calculations. There are no limitations on the quantity of
distribution boards or consumer units installed. In addition, there is an extensive reporting capability
