A home-eco- nomics major, she retired after a long career as a librarian for the North Haven school system. She was active in the women’s fellowship at her church. PA, died May 28. An art major, she was an accomplished professional artist and pho- tographer who exhibited sculpture and taught at Pittsburgh’s Academy of Life long Learning up until her passing. Her more recent works, sculptures rendered in neon lights, include “Light Harp,” which she donated to Skidmore’s permanent collec- tion in honor of her late daughter, Anne. Her work has have been exhibited at gal- leries nationwide and at Fort Lauder dale (FL) and Logan (MA) airports. She was the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including recognition in 2006 as Pitts - burgh Center for the Arts Artist of the Year. She served Skidmore as a Wide Hori - zons Campaign volunteer and in 1984 was honored with an Alumni Association Out - tanding Service Award. She was a long- time docent at the Worcester Art Museum and a past member of the Mon tachusset Council of the Girls Scouts of America. She taught country painting and stencil- ing at the local YWCA. She served the College as president of the Skidmore Club in Detroit, class agent, and Wide Horizons campaign volunteer. She is survived by a daughter and three sons, a sister, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, seven step-grands, and four step-great-grands. She held leadership roles in the Greenfield, SC, chapter of the League of Women Voters and was a founding member of the area’s Unitarian Fellow - ship. She also volunteered for local litera- cy and senior citizen programs. For Skid - more she was her class’s fund chair, Friends of the Presidents chair, secretary, presi- dent, agent, and reunion volunteer. She was an accomplished watercolorist whose work was displayed at her senior commu- nity residence. She is survived by two daughters, including Marianne Bos well ’75, and three grandsons. Husband Wer - ner predeceased her. Mary MacGregor Bolton ’45 of Jupiter, FL, died March 2. An English major, she was a community volunteer and philan- thropist for institutions including the American Cancer Society, Lafayette Col - lege, and Skidmore. died February 12. A business major, she was an active supporter of Planned Par - enthood, the Central Vermont Hospital Auxiliary, and the Granite Center Garden Club. She was a Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice volunteer and a sub- stitute teacher in Barre public schools. She especially enjoyed playing golf. She is sur- vived by two daughters and a son, six grandchildren including Andrew Friberg ’00 and Lindsay Sawyer Friberg ’03, and two sisters including Marjorie Fayen Boyd ’45. Eleanore Steffens Nissley ’47 of Ridge - wood, NJ, died August 30, 2012. A busi- ness major, she completed a bachelor’s in education at NYU. She worked in com- mercial real estate as president of Steffens Realty in Ridgewood and was the former director of Interchange State Bank. An elected Republican state committee- woman representing Bergen County, she also served as the commissioner of the New Jersey Sports Commission. She was a board member of the Buehler Center, Bergen County Boy Scouts, and Meadow - lands Commission, and a trustee of Ber - gen County Community College. CA, died February 13. An English major, she was a former associate producer for WINS radio and later assistant producer for the Perry Como TV show, both in New York City. After moving to the West Coast,


she worked in advertising and then as an administrative assistant for the Palo Alto School District and the personnel depart- ment at Hewlett Packard. She was an avid golfer and football fan. AZ, died March 16. An English major, she earned a master’s in elementary education from the University of Southern Califor - nia and a doctorate in educational admin- istration from Arizona State. She started her career teaching elementary school in the Watts section of Los Angeles before and after the riots there, refusing to give up the position despite concerns for her safety. She later was principal of a Casa Grande, AZ, elementary school serving Native American students. She served on the board of the Prescott Unified School District for 19 years, including five terms as president. She was also board president of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, and in 2008 was named the city’s Woman of the Year. She is survived by two sons and two grandchildren. NJ, died June 22. An English major, she was a teacher’s aide in math and English at elementary and middle schools in Glou cester and Camden counties. A mem- ber of the AAUW, she was also active with the local PTA and Boys Club. She served Skidmore as an alumni admissions con- tact and reunion volunteer. She is sur- vived by a daughter, three sons, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward LaPann ’50. Joanne Harder Woodward ’50 of Ne - halm, OR, died in May.
