The family lives in New Hampshire, where Dirk works for a small community bank and Vicki is a fifth- and sixth-grade French teacher at a neighboring middle school. They do a lot of skiing. All of the boys love soccer and are driving mom and dad nuts with their girlfriends! Katherine Speyer Schieffelin recently accepted a position as senior VP and chief development officer at the National Res - taurant Association Educational Founda - tion in Washington, DC. She and hus- band Mike Schieffelin ’86 have been married 26 years and have two daugh-


ters—the elder is a freshman at the Uni - versity of Virginia, and the younger will graduate from high school in 2014. Craig Poler retired a few years ago from trading refined petroleum products at BP. He’s been spending time with his two daughters, who love boarding school in Connecticut. Craig moved from rural Con necticut to the Back Bay of Boston in time to experience Superstorm Sandy, record snowfall, and the Marathon Bomb - ing—“never a dull moment,” he says. He’s been to a lot of Red Sox and Bruins games and really loves city life. He has also turned his longtime hobby of photogra- phy into a business and is now showing at several galleries in NYC and Miami. When he’s not watching his kids’ games or taking them and all their friends out for dinner, Craig is catching up with col- lege friends from around the US and rac- ing cars on several East Coast tracks. He finally retired his lacrosse stick and equip- ment last fall after beating the Skid more varsity team at the annual alumni game. family members could meet him and, more recently, to mourn the loss of Paula’s father. Anne Alzapiedi accepted a one-year position as the Newtown Recovery Pro - gram leader. She is part of a team of execu tives from GE who have been “loaned” to Newtown, CT, to provide leadership for postcrisis initiatives follow- ing the school shooting last December. Anne has been with GE for 16 years, after eight years in municipal government serv- ing as a town manager. Last May she and daughter Katie, 12, met up with Bettina Holton ’87 in Boston and had a great time visiting the Boston Museum of Science and riding a duck boat. Steven Cress and his wife, Jean, are returning home to Summit, NJ, after seven years in London. Son Scott, 21, attends Muhlenberg College, and David, 18, is at Lafayette College. Steven says, “It was an amazing opportunity to be embedded in the culture, customs, and values of British society and the European community at large; the experience has expanded our sons’ horizons well beyond anything they could have possibly imag- ined. But there really is no place like home.”


Baltimore, MD, resident Anne Chorske Stuzin is enjoying her retirement from class secretary duties. She fills her days keeping track of children Madeleine, 17, Devon, 14, and Jack, 11. Last March she had lunch with Aimee Ventura O’Brien while Aimee was in town for a business meeting. In April she had a girls’ weekend in the Charlottesville, VA, area with Jane Zoidis Quinn and Anne Dulany Eliason. They toured local vineyards, making a stop at the impressive winery owned by Michael Shaps. Anne says many laughs were involved, and adds, “I always have a good time when I’m with my Skidmore friends!” My son Jason, 15, was a captain of the freshman lacrosse team at Staples High School in Westport, CT, and the team’s starting goalie. The team went 11-2. Daughter Leah, 16, has her driver’s li - cense, and I felt like a dad in a sitcom when I was teaching her how to drive. Last May I met up with Dan Wolff at his house in Waltham, MA, and I also got a chance to catch up with Steven Cress for dinner in NYC. It was great to see both.
