ABOVE: The three aging F-units needed all the boost that they could get from SD-40 7547 that was trailing the trio. But here at Maria Furnace, they’ve made it through the Jack’s Mountain tunnel and are descending the east slope of the foothills. It will be smooth sailing into the Port of Baltimore. LEFT: East coast weather on December 17 made photography challenging, but also rewarding as evidenced by a small “sucker hole” at Porters. The ever changing skies held enough promise to keep us going east until the end of the day even though we were buying ourselves a longer drive home to Cleveland.
