ebm-papst launches RadiPac into market
Europe’s leading manufacturer of fans and motors is set to expand its range of radial fans with the launch of the new RadiPac series.
The new medium-pressure standalone series joins the already established range of low-pressure radial plug fans with the GreenTech EC motor technology. The newly launched RadiPac series offer a self-contained and compact solution, removing the need for variable frequency / inverter drives (VFD) and cost-intensive adjustments during commissioning. As the motor and electronics in the motor system are already perfectly adjusted to one another, additional electronic filters, shielded cables or external motor protection are unnecessary. The RadiPac series is available in three designs:
Support Bracket • For suspending on the unit wall with pre-assembled inlet ring and plate
• Installation either shaft horizontal or vertical
Support Bracket + • Pre-assembled inlet ring and plate • Design enables the fan to be decoupled from the environment by means of appropriate vibration elements
• Installation shaft horizontal
Cube • Pre-assembled inlet ring and full frame
• Stable cube design enables the fan to be decoupled from the environment by means of appropriate vibration elements
• Installation shaft horizontal or vertical
• The cube is not designed for suspending from the inlet plate! The RadiPac cube design provides the user unique advantages during assembly, while ensuring safety during transport and less packaging waste. The series is available in motor sizes up to 12kW with impeller sizes from 250mm to 1250mm in outer diameter. What’s more, air performance levels up to 40,000 m3
/h and
pressure up to 1,800Pa are possible. The optimised rotating diffuser impeller allows for efficient energy conversion in the impeller and excellent noise behaviour. The inlet ring is used to guide the air into the impeller. The design for the inlet shape increases the filling level of the impeller and reduces turbulence, enhancing the efficiency of the impeller, resulting in lower noise. The correct position of the inlet ring to the impeller has a critical influence on the efficiency of the fan and on the noise emissions. The optimum position is factory-
ETDE gets the GE Treatment
The southern offices of ETDE – the energy and services division of Bouygues Construction, has recently undergone a full lighting refurbishment. The installation of GE Lighting’s LED solutions helped to improve greatly the aesthetics of the building cutting energy use at the same time. As the energy and services arm of Bouygues Consruction, installing a low energy lighting solution was incredibly important. However at the same time, the ETDE team wanted to create a contemporary aesthetic for its office building in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. As such, GE Lighting installed one of its latest LED innovations, the recessed Lumination 600sq luminaire as well as
suspended Lumination 1200 fittings to bring a sleek, modern look and feel to the office. GE Lighting’s Lumination has a long rated life, typically lasting 50,000 hours at L85. With fewer fittings, Lumination also offers a 42% reduction in energy, making it ideal for use in this situation. Complementing this, the main ETDE reception area also features a series of fixed GE Infusion Downlights and directional GU10 LED’s. GE’s Infusion LED module combines a high colour render index, with CRI ranges to Ra>90, with a beam intensity equal to 35W AR111 HID, which results in up to 50% less energy being required. Simon Hayman, Head of Operational Support at ETDE said: “The GE Lighting solution fits in well with the ethos of our company – we recognise that energy performance is a central issue but wanted to ensure aesthetics were not lost as a result of the installation. We’re very pleased with the finished result and are incredibly impressed with the 60% energy saving that GE Lighting has helped us to achieve. What’s more, the payback period is only 2.8 months so we’re delighted

set, saving on installation, time and effort. The RadiPac series is designed primarily for the Air Handling unit market but is flexible enough to have many other application uses.
In a class of their own
The new RadiPac fans significantly surpass the minimum efficiency requirements of the Eco-design Directive for fans that comes into effect in 2015. The motor efficiency levels for GreenTech EC motors are significantly above efficiency class IE4 and all products come with UL, CSA and GOST approvals.

with the solution that’s been put in place.” GE Lighting’s Lumination range is growing. There is an increasingly wide range of lighting solutions that are perfect for use in a whole host of settings. Lumination is in itself quite versatile – available both as a recessed and suspended model, the fitting is designed to work discretely with the surrounding building, making it perfect for most commercial applications.
