Olympia London exhibits an affinity for Union Industries’ high speed doors

Union Industries, the market leading manufacturer of industrial rapid roll doors, has returned to one of Britain’s most famous Exhibition Venues for an installation of its own. The West Yorkshire based company which designs, manufactures, installs and maintains its own range of fast acting doors, was called upon by the Olympia London exhibition centre to install a door as part of a major extension back in 2011, and has returned for an additional 6.0m wide x 4.7m high Ramdoor High Speed Door two years on. The Olympia story began on Boxing Day 1886 with the Paris Hippodrome Circus and throughout its 126-year history it has continued to host some truly outstanding events. During the past two years £30m has been invested in an extensive refurbishment at Olympia that has seen the addition of a new level within Olympia West and numerous upgrades to the renamed Olympia Central, formerly Olympia Two. Hosting a variety of exhibitions, Olympia London often requires access for large installations and projects, and as such Union’s Ramdoors have been fitted to provide swift and reliable access into the building. The doors will also serve to retain heat in the main hall, an issue the venue had struggled with in the past. The Ramdoor has a fast operating speed, opening fully in a matter of seconds with automatic close as standard. It offers efficiency, security and, in keeping with all other Union

Industries doors, extreme reliability. Also in common with the other doors in the range, the Ramdoor features Union’s highly-regarded ‘Crash-Out’ damage protection facility, which ensures the door remains operable if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a vehicle. Paul Bishop, Operations Manager at Olympia London, said: “We have been very impressed with the first Ramdoor and the accessibility benefits it has given the venue. We are always looking at ways of enhancing our operations and Union’s high speed door offered the ideal

solution helping maintain an efficient flow of traffic in and out of the building as well as supporting our environmental commitment by preventing heat loss, so a second Ramdoor from Union Industries was the obvious choice.” Gary Bareham, Senior Technical Sales (South) at Union Industries, said: “Our range of high speed roller doors has an exceptional reputation and we regularly win repeat business from organisations such as Olympia London on the strength of the quality and reliability of our doors.” www.unionindustries.co.uk
