and arrive just in time at the store. The supplier also offers a service including maintenance kits, which are changed by Lexmark staff at regular intervals. Breakdowns have reduced and the availability of printers and printing materials has increased. “I was looking for a partner that can simplify printing for our business, working with one supplier who does it all and takes the problem away from my colleagues in the stores,” added Hattrell. “Lexmark does that and has made it simpler for Tesco. They have delivered a solution that saves Tesco money in the long run.” The project was awarded a

allowed store staff to concentrate on delivering great customer service. And Lexmark’s flexible and proactive MPS approach has enabled Tesco to provide a more consistent printing service to its staff, while the retailer has benefitted from its printing fleets working efficiently. Its staff are also able to produce a high volume of printed materials, instore, without having to worry about printer breakdowns. Tesco has appreciated Lexmark’s
consistent approach to managed services across markets: “We have a single account manager who looks after us on a global basis, and account managers in individual countries who can deal with local issues,” Hattrell continued. “Lexmark has understood the importance of this and how globalisation for a company like
Tesco is very important. It’s been a real win for us to have one company to work with across different markets,” he added. The retailer has plans to expand
on the current MPS project, rolling it out across more international markets, such as Asia: “Lexmark has not only delivered on the promises it made, but also provided new ideas for ensuring a smooth running printing service within Tesco. We’re really pleased with the work Lexmark has done, and believe they will continue to do a good job for us,” concluded Hattrell. “The next steps for us will be to look at how we can expand on what we’ve learnt and achieved with Lexmark on an international basis. We look forward to working with them as a long-term managed print services partner.”
