Rarely, one can get adverse effects such as foreign body granuloma formation, which can feel like nodules under the skin or obstruction of a blood vessel leading to necrosis and residual scarring. It is important that practitioners are aware of how to deal with the complications if they were to arise. From a patient's perspective, dermal fillers can seem relatively non-invasive but they are temporary and will be broken down leading to the need for repeated treatments.
