Save time in the office!
If only there was a magic answer to help you claw back some precious time to get all of those tasks complete. Sadly there’s not, but perhaps better file management could help. Research from EDM Group has revealed that the average British employee wastes one and a half hours hunting for lost documents or information in the office – which could be costing the economy a staggering £2.1billion. Of course, when it comes to organisation we’re sure PAs are amongst the most diligent – but the study brings a potent reminder of why it’s so crucial to have good office organisation

Handwritten notes more powerful than email 1
Recent research has confirmed the power of a letter – with a study finding that recipients of a letter say it is more effective at getting an important mes- sage across and more persuasive when compared to an email. “With advance- ments in technology it’s amazing how impersonal communication has become,” agrees Bekki Griffiths, Mar- keting Manager at Mitsubishi Pencil, “we're bombarded daily by various electronically produced correspon- dence, so, how refreshingly different and nice it is when a handwritten greeting, invitation, thank you or notelet is received. Such correspon- dence always makes an impactful entrance on my desk and always gets opened in eager anticipation as to its contents. Taking just a little time to pen a personal note can carry a lot of weight, makes the recipient feel special and reflects positively on the sender.” So, perhaps it’s time to incorporate the written word into your working day more often, here’s how:

Have you just printed off a letter to post to a client or colleague? Why
not write a short personal note on a Post-it® note or a compliments slip and include it in the envelope?

Step away from the email and pen a short note offering your congratulations – even if it’s only a few lines and an invite to celebrate with a coffee.

If you meet a new client it’s always worth following up with a hand-
written note to say it was nice to meet them – if research is to be believed you’ll be making a great impression.
Make your event delegates feel special by sending out short thank
you cards post-event. If you keep it short and write a few a day in the run up, you’ll soon have them ready to post out shortly after – boosting the percep- tion of the event.

Contributions to pensions falling
The amount people are willing to invest into a pension is falling, according to a Scottish Widows report. Last year people were willing to put away an average of £67 a month – this year that figure stands at just £51 a month.
