Pickerings Lifts launches Heating & Cooling Services Division
Pickerings Lifts, the UK’s largest independent lift manufacturer, has added a new business stream to its comprehensive portfolio with the introduction of Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services. Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services, registered with Gas Safe and REFCOM, will specialise in the supply, installation, service and maintenance of a wide range of heating, ventilation and air conditioning products. The launch of Heating & Cooling Services will offer Pickerings Lifts’ customers an even wider range of specialist services in essence creating a ‘one stop shop’ for all their service and maintenance requirements. Commenting on the launch of the new business stream Pickerings Lifts’ customer service director, Lynn Humble, said: “The launch of Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services was a natural progression for the company and will allow us to provide an even better service for our customers. Although the lift and HVAC industries are two totally different disciplines, there are many similarities in the target customer base including the NHS, retail, education, hospitality and leisure. One particularly good example of this synergy is the care home sector where heating, lifts and mobility are all considered to be of the highest priority.”
Initially the core focus of Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services will be within the North West and North Wales regions, however the business has already acquired a number of national contracts and plans are in place for the division to expand its reach across the whole of the UK. Pickerings Lifts has set itself an
ambitious growth target for the Heating & Cooling Services business with the aim of doubling its work force within the next 18 months.
Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services is headed up by operations manager Gareth Chappells who has 15 years’ experience in the HVAC industry. Gareth said: “As a registered HVAC contractor we are keen to lead the way in delivering high quality products which make a significant contribution to building a sustainable future. Our priorities are delivering service and maintenance regimes which improve economy and performance, reduce downtime and increase the overall lifespan of equipment. We will also strive to ensure that all customers are regularly updated and assisted with their responsibilities to remain compliant with all current regulations and legislation.” Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services will also provide specialist support to the evolving heat pump market, including the gas fired and renewable source driven absorption heat pump which has ultra-high operating efficiencies of almost 40% more than conventional boilers and a low environmental impact. Gareth concluded: “Pickerings Lifts Heating & Cooling Services is driven by a team of highly experienced engineers who are true specialists in the HVAC sector. Many contractors only operate in one discipline, however all of our engineers are certified to work across both the heating and cooling sectors offering an average experience level of 17 years within the HVAC industry.” Tel: 01642 607161

High purity pipework range
Hargreaves has launched a high purity pipework range. The core product range consists of high purity stainless steel pipe, and is also available in Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) and copper. It is manufactured in a class 100 (IOS 4/5) cleanroom facility at Newton Aycliffe near Darlington to strict quality assurance standards, incorporating separate access and exits for PVDF, copper and stainless steel, dedicated areas for preparation and welding and storage for completed spools within the clean room.
Hargreaves also offer a range of additional components including isolation valves, instrumentation, sight glasses, safety valves and filters. Welding of the pipework will be carried out in accordance with ASME BPE 2002 and B31.3 standards. Orbital welders at the facility operate in ranges from ¼ inch to 6 inches for stainless steel pipe, and 20mm to 315mm for PVDF.
According to Hargreaves, the launch of the product range is a logical extension to their existing high integrity ventilation solutions portfolio. Tim Hopkinson, Managing Director of Hargreaves commented: “The addition of high purity pipework will enable us to broaden our offer to existing clients and prospects in these sectors, and in other industries where the same exceptional quality and purity is paramount.”

DEVI doubles up the warranty on cables and mats for electrical floor heating
With effect from September 1st, DEVI extends the warranty on all cables and mats for electrical floor heating from 10 to 20 years. This warranty is not limited to the product itself, DEVI offers a full floor warranty meaning that DEVI in case of failure on cables or mats will also cover costs of installation and repairs to the floor due to repairing or exchanging the floor heating cables or mats.
The new warranty is launched at the same time when DEVI launches its new high-end products DEVIflex™ and DEVIsafe™ in September 2013 and is a result of the dedicated work with quality and reliability as part of the product development of DEVI.
“Reliability and quality are key parameters to us – we want our customers Building & Facilities Management – September 2013
to be able to rely on us in everything we do. Due to many years of dedicated product development and testing we have reached a quality level where our products maintain excellent performance over long time periods.
“So it is only natural that we extend our warranty to 20 years. And we believe so much in our ability to deliver superior quality that we have no problem by making this a warranty that also covers cost of installation and floor heating materials involved. “Actually, we think that this is only fair to the consumers. We must be able to give a promise like that to homeowners who often invest a serious part of their budget in optimizing the floors in their homes,” says
Vice President Jacob Madsen, Head of DEVI Electrical Heating Systems. In order to obtain the warranty the installation must be performed by an authorized installer and a proof of purchase together with the stamped and signed warranty certificate must be available. Consumers, installers or wholesalers who want to learn more about the extended warranty or the new products from DEVI can visit the web site
