Lifts & Escalators
Guideline Lift Services is pleased to announce that it was the main supplier of lift and escalator maintenance and first response services (Olympic Park) to the London 2012 Games.
Olympic Gold for Guideline
Guideline was instructed to ensure 68 lifts of varying types and 16 escalators across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the main stadium, aquatics, main media centre, velodrome and International Broadcast Centre were reliable and always up and running during the ten-week period when the Games were on.
The company understood the need to minimise downtime and ensure uninterrupted lift availability so placed ten of its expert engineers and technicians across the site so someone was always on hand, 24 hours a day, to provide a complete first response and breakdown service. Fortunately, due to careful planning and the expertise of Guideline’s specialist technicians, the lifts and escalators consistently functioned throughout the
Games with minimum downtime or disruption.
Simon Jepheart, Key Account Director,
said: “Working as the main supplier of lift and escalator maintenance was an excellent opportunity and prestigious contract for Guideline to win. Our technicians worked above and beyond to ensure all areas of the Queen Elizabeth
Park were accessible during the Games.” Guideline is one of the UK’s leading independent lift companies specialising in the seamless installation, modernisation, maintenance and repair of all types of passenger lifts.

At 780mm wide, 1950mm high and with a class-leading length of 3.2m (without basket), the CMC S15 is extremely compact while still offering generous aerial capabilities – 7.0m maximum outreach and 200kg platform capacity. MBS Access says it is excited to bring this new edge in 15m spider lift versatility for work in shopping centres, facilities and building maintenance, window cleaning and estates management. “MBS Access is known for offering the latest innovation in spider lift design, and the S15 is no exception,” said new hire manager, Ben Dobson.
“The 3.2m length is a significant improvement on rival machines, giving extra flexibility in tight space and for moving the platform up steps and in lifts. This feature alone will make a big difference to user convenience and productivity.”
The S15 has hydraulic track width adjustment to 980mm for easy adaptation to ground conditions and weighs a transport friendly 1800kg, while offering all the usual benefits of a spider lift. These include a crawler chassis with rubber tracks and low floor loadings to protect sensitive surfaces and high value flooring from damage. It also boasts extremely simple, intuitive controls, giving even less

experienced operators ease and confidence in using the platform’s fine capabilities. Mr Dobson said: “In the past, spider lifts have been perceived as complicated, but the engineering is moving on and the S15 takes user simplicity to a new level. It’s a hire-ready spider lift with an excellent reputation for reliability which we know will delight our customers and attract high utilisation and repeat business.” The new machine replaces MBS’s existing 15m spider in line with its policy of upgrading fleet to offer the latest innovation and maintaining the age of units
to below 5 years. The company also runs four Teupen tracked spider lifts ranging from 18m to 30m working height. MBS Access predominantly hires to shopping centres, department stores and other facilities and venues in London and the South-East, although its specialist machines and technical support are sought in other areas of the UK and even on the continent. The company offers self-drive and operated hire, 24/7 delivery, pre-rental site assessment and health and safety review.
