Timeguard plugs gap in LED market with bulkhead designs
Timeguard has added New bulkhead designs to its range of exterior LED lighting. The attractive 5W designs emit an even light, thanks to ingenious lens diffusers, that is equivalent to 70W of halogen lighting.
Made of tough polycarbonate, the new LED bulkheads are suitable for both courtesy / welcome lighting or security lighting, offering energy savings of 90% over conventional lights. With tens of thousands of energy-guzzling old- style

Tower Light’s Wholly Green Trinity
Tower Light UK Limited, the Milton Keynes based supplier and manufacturer of environmentally sensitive site lighting equipment, have released details about their new generation of lighting sets entitled ‘The Green 3’.
‘The Green 3’ is comprised from a trinity
of Tower Light’s most environmentally beneficial products, combining energy saving properties with extended fuel conservation and low noise. The lighting units that make up ‘The Green 3’ are the VT-Hybrid, the VB9 and the LinkTower. The newest of this triplet is Tower
Light’s VT-Hybrid, featuring a hybrid battery/diesel system, with auto charging technology with the set running on 90% battery power and 10% fuel. The battery is automatically recharged via a low battery monitor system, combining 8-hours battery power and 8-hours generator usage. The battery has 3000 hours life and the generator consumes just 0.25 litres per hour when in use, meaning its carbon output is a miserly 1.4kg/CO2
/hour. The system
emits almost no noise pollution, as it remains totally silent for 50% of the time. Fuel usage is so low that the set can run for over 500 hours on one single
emissions when using a VT-Hybrid instead of a traditional lighting tower. Tower Light’s VB9 is regularly seen providing safe lighting to construction sites and outside events throughout the Country. The VB9 incorporates a 170-litre capacity fuel tank with a running time between refuelling of 340 hours, an increase of a massive 435%. This means that operators are spared from refuelling each light once week to once a month and its environmental credentials are further advanced with a carbon output of just 0.7kg/CO2
tank of fuel. Tower Light have estimated that an operator can reduce fuel costs for up £400 per month and save over 1000kg of CO2
the VB9 reduces carbon output by nearly 900kg.
£336.00 per month by simply utilising a smaller diesel engine combined with a series of electronics that ensures the metal halide lighting output is not compromised and remains at the HSE recommended levels. In addition, the wider environment will benefit from lower CO2
emissions, as
/hour. Powered by a diesel engine with 12V electric start and fitted into a whisper quiet sound proof canopy, the VB9 incorporates easy access for maintenance with large lockable doors. Tests have indicated that the VB9 will reduce fuel usage by a staggering
The LinkTower has been in the Tower Light armoury for a number of years, with its popularity increasing year-on- year. The LinkTower is an individual lighting system that has little competition. Quite simply it bears all the features and benefits of a standard tower floodlight but with the added benefit of being able to safely link together, resulting in a row of powerful lighting sets all from one power source – mains or generator – therefore it consumes zero amount of fuel in its own right. Illumination is from a 7m vertical, manually operated, stainless steel mast and has no discernable noise output. The LinkTower can be deployed at shows, events, construction sites and on the UK rail network.
“’The Green 3’ is our latest contribution to bring to the attention of users of lighting towers the amount of fuel savings that can be achieved by using one, or a combination, of these sets,” commented, Paul Hay, MD of Tower Light UK Limited. “With green issues increasingly becoming put at the forefront of a site manager or event organiser’s plans, we believe that ‘The Green 3’s energy saving capabilities will be of keen interest to all environmentally conscious coordinators,” added Paul. Tower Light UK Limited opened for business in Milton Keynes in May 2010 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Italian company Tower Light Srl. Tower Light Srl is part of the US based Generac Power Systems Group. Tel; 01908 571435 Email:
