HQView400DC alternative content scaler-switcher engages audiences at cinema screenings

GFD Communications, systems integrator and exclusive Sony Digital Cinema 4K distributor for the Republic of Ireland, has supplied Calibre UK HQView400DC alternative content scaler-switcher to scale various content for display on a 7-metre screen using the Sony SRX-515 4K projector that is located at the heart of the new cinema at the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire, Ireland. Already a premier live venue the new cinema boasts a 320-seat auditorium. GFD Communications were responsible for the installation and maintenance of the new cinema including Dolby 5.5 and Meyer sound systems. “The HQView400DC alternative content

scaler-switcher allows laptop presentations, and various other non-DCI compliant digital cinema content and sources to be used with the Sony 4K projector,” explains John Anderson, managing director at GFD Communications Ltd. “The HQView400DC corrects the keystone projection challenges of this theatre created by the projection angle.” The HQView400DC is a highly flexible digital cinema alternative content scaler- switcher, which gives stunning image quality from consumer and professional AV sources, providing flexible connectivity and

a compact 1U form factor. It can be used as a routing switcher and universal interface and vastly improves video image quality with better detail and clarity. “The in-built superior de-interlacing reduces image flicker and artefacts, and it is optimized for integration with digital cinema projectors,” says Pauline Brooksbank, managing director at Calibre UK. “We’re delighted that our technology is used to engage audiences of some of Ireland’s finest shows, concerts, multimedia and cultural events. “The integration of this new equipment is a significant investment for Pavilion Theatre. “Being able to offer film enthusiasts an exceptionally high quality cinema viewing experience is a wonderful thing and we know our audiences will be as pleased with to this new addition to the theatre as we are ,” says Hugh Murray, director at Pavilion Theatre.

“It’s imperative that we have the top equipment to ensure we can maintain the high standards audiences have come to expect from the theatre.” And the last word goes to John Anderson at GFD Communications who says: “The equipment installed is the standard of what should be in all cinemas today. Cinema operators need products like the HQView400DC alternative content scaler-switcher from Calibre UK to get good quality content up and in front of audiences.”

and delegates alike. We have proven that co-locating events works just as well regionally as it does for national events and fmSHOWCASE seemed like such a natural fit. It provides relevant new content for our existing audiences as well as introducing new visitors from the fast moving world of facilities and estates management. Managing the spaces where we live, work and play, the role of Facilities Management is ever evolving. Keeping up to date with the latest trends, new products and changes in legislation is a constant challenge. Our research revealed a massive gap in the market, with no other events focussing on FM regionally. The initial response from our clients has been

extremely positive and we are confident this new event will be well received by regional audiences, where facilities and estates managers from the UK’s largest cities will be able to debate, share knowledge, learn about changes and meet potential suppliers face-to-face to discuss their individual needs.”

fmSHOWCASE will join itSHOWCASE and ecoSHOWCASE, creating the new look SHOWCASE series, later this year in Leeds, London and Cardiff, rolling out as a complete national roadshow covering 11 host cities in 2014 Email: martyn. hughes@frameworkmedia.co.uk
