The School Direct programme is a school-led teacher training route. Participating schools directly recruit their own trainees and work in partnership with an accredited training provider to offer qualifi ed teacher training, which in some cases may include a Postgraduate Certifi cate in Education (PGCE). The School Direct programme generally lasts for one year and trainees may go on to work within that school or cluster/federation of schools (although there is no guarantee of employment).
