Part of the largest and fastest-growing economic region in the world, Malaysia is emerging as one of Asia’s most competitive destinations in terms of hosting internation- al meetings and events. The country’s high affordability, easy accessibility, and close proximity to more than 50 percent of the world’s population have helped to attract high-profile events like the World Gas Confer- ence 2012 and the 2010 18th World Congress of Accountants. With its rapidly developing infrastructure and economy, groups from a multitude of industries and sectors are taking a second look at Malaysia. The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition
Bureau (MyCEB) recently introduced a new welcome kit to help acquaint meeting attendees with the burgeoning destination.

Get connected Meeting planners bringing their groups to Malaysia can utilize the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau’s mobile app to fit the needs of their meeting or event. Features include destination guides as well as such event-specific information as attendee surveys, session and speaker highlights, and much more.
Available to groups with 500 international attendees or more, the kit includes the Dele- gate Privilege Card, which gives international attendees special discounts and privileges at area restaurants and hotels, and on various modes of local transportation. There are cur- rently more than 40 participating partners, including Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Aquaria KLCC, and many others. Not only does the card help showcase
MyCEB’s many industry partners, it also serves as a way for the bureau to reward international groups that have chosen to meet in Malaysia. Attendees can use the card as a passport to experience some of Malay- sia’s most popular attractions at a discount, including the world’s largest pewter maker,
Royal Selangor Malaysia, and KL Tower, the tallest telecommunications tower in South- east Asia. Other places of interest include landmarks like Kuala Lumpur’s Central Mar- ket and Independence Square. The welcome kit also supplies planners
and their attendees with a mobile app spe- cially customized to their meeting or event. The app may include schedules, announce- ments, surveys, and other information spe- cific to their conference, as well as a Kuala Lumpur destination guide. MyCEB has plans to add more Malaysia destination guides in the future.
