RECYCLINGROUNDUP

This month, Recolight will be at the RWM conference in Birmingham to speak to public sector bodies about what savings they could be making by taking advantage of Recolight’s free lamp recycling services. Earlier this year Recolight conducted research into whether public sector organisations are saving money and taking advantage of the free lamp recycling services available to them. It found that currently only 0.3% of public sector organisations benefit from free lamp recycling as a member of Recolight’s national network of collection points. Of the public sector, Local Authorities are ahead in taking up the free

lamp recycling service, with 11% opting to join the network. Major MOD sites are next with 10% using the service. The NHS and the education system are lagging behind in uptake, with only 0.2% of NHS hospitals and GP practices, and only 0.1% of schools, colleges and universities part of the network. The 2013 RWM conference will take place on the 10 – 12 September at the NEC Birmingham. Recolight can be found at stand 19S49.

PUTTING ON A SHOW!

Drum ‘n’ bass duo Chase and Status have taken the European festival circuit by storm this summer, with a breath-taking lightshow designed by Neil Carson, based on a floor ‘specials’ rig of over 160 lights (with 60 x Robe LEDBeam 100s at its core!). 40 of the LEDBeams are attached to two custom pre-rigged trussing dollies wheeled onstage for lightning-quick deployment behind the band, forming a retina-burning ‘wall-of-death’ effect. The other 20 LEDBeam 100 fixtures are rigged ten each on two 5

metre high towers positioned either side of the stage flanking the LEDBeam dollies in the middle. The high-impact effects that Carson has created with the LEDBeam 100 wall have impressed everyone, particularly in relation to the miniscule size of the units, which make them ideal for being toured in large quantities whilst taking up very little truck space.

BRIGHTER AND MORE EFFICIENT

Solvents with Safety, a solvent supplier, is transforming its warehouse with British-made LED lighting. With the help of MHA Lighting, Solvents with Safety has tripled the light levels in its Doncaster warehouse, whilst significantly reducing lighting energy consumption – saving 60 Tonnes of Co2.

Switching to LED lighting from Greater Manchester- based MHA Lighting, forms part of the forward-thinking solvents supplier’s strategy to improve light levels in its warehouse, whilst reducing on-going lighting energy costs.
