The new Thermo Fisher Scientific Pesticide Analysis Center of Excellence (COE) recently opened its doors in Runcorn, U.K. to help users apply the latest technology and expertise to challenging pesticide analysis in food and environmental laboratories. It is modeled after the company’s success- ful POPs (persistent organic pollut- ants) Center of Excellence in Bremen, Germany. Both COEs focus on provid- ing high-productivity analytical work flows that include expert consulta- tion, instruments, software, sample preparation, and consumables. www.

LabAnswer has implemented a cloud-based, HIPAA-compliant system to support OpGen’s newly launched clinical services laboratory. This CLIA-certified laboratory will focus on developing a best-in-class portfolio of genetic tests and analysis services for the surveillance and identification of health-care-associated infections and human pathogens. LabAnswer and OpGen identified the STARLIMS Cloud Platform as the enterprise informa- tion system to support the laboratory. The STARLIMS application provides configurable functionality to support
business functions required by the clinical lab.
