AOC launches refreshing 144Hz gaming monitor Low consumption gamer-focused monitor features a customisable display and a fast refresh rate
AOC HAS launched the g2460Pqu, a WLED monitor aimed specifically at gamers. The 24-inch full HD display boasts
a 144Hz refresh rate, which is over double the standard monitor rate of 60Hz. Higher monitor frame rates reduce screen tearing and help to reduce eye fatigue. The g2460Pqu also features a pixel
response time of one millisecond which AOC claims is down to the monitor’s TN panel. AOC says that the response time also stops ghosting effects from occuring. The g2460Pqu has a specialised on-
screen display, which can be customised to adapt to different types of games. Like its on-screen display, the
monitor itself is also customisable, with 130mm height adjustment, the ability to turn the monitor 90 degrees
and the option to wall-mount the display, too. Sporting VGA, dual-link DVI,
HDCP-compatible HDMI and DisplayPort display connectors, the g2460Pqu also has an integrated four- way USB hub, two of which are USB3.0, and which includes a fast- charge USB port for mobile devices. The monitor is low-consumption, using only 25 watts in standard mode, fulfilling Energy Star 5.0 and TCO 5.0 regulations. AOC have also included their i-Care software, which they say allows the monitor to adjust its brightness to ambient light and maintain efficient power consumption. Five Eco Mode settings and e-Saver provide more eco options. The g2460Pqu is now available for an RRP of £249. As with all of their models, AOC offers a three-year warranty on the monitor.

Get Extreme with ASRock’s Z87 Extreme4 motherboard

ASROCK’S LATEST product bundle combines its Z87 Extreme4 motherboard with the newest release of its A-Tuning software suite, which includes the XFast RAM and OC Tweaker utilities, for control over the computer’s hardware performance. ASRock has equipped the
motherboard with Japanese-made gold- coated capacitors, which it claims will provide long life and stable performance. Power to the CPU is supplied through a 12 power phase design, which should offer the stability needed to unlock the A-Tuning software’s overclocking capabilities. The memory slots use ASRock’s new pin design to reduce distortion, and which is said by ASRock to further enhance performance. The product can connect and use up to three monitors

simultaneously, with support for 4K resolutions, which have double the resolution of 1080p displays and four times the pixel density. For the input of an external display,
the board has an HDMI-in connection, removing the need to unplug and replug connectors. For audio, the board has ASRock’s
7.1-channel Purity Sound solution, a hardware and software hybrid solution, which ASRock boldy claim will provide audio satisfaction to even the pickiest audiophiles. The Z87 Extreme4 incorporates
ASRock’s Fast Boot technology, taking less than one-and-a-half seconds to logon to Windows 8. ASRock also states that due to its
XFast 555 technology, LAN and USB transfer speeds are boosted by up to five
times. Intel Ethernet, a remote PC-waking service via the internet, is also supported. Additionally,
ASRock’s ‘OMG’ technology can also restrict internet access at scheduled times.
