MICROSOFT: STEVE BALLMER has announced he will stand down as the firm’s boss within the next 12 months. He was Microsoft’s 30th employee

and first business manager after being recruited in 1980. Over the past two decades, Ballmer has headed up several of Microsoft’s divisions. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1992, before acting as president of Microsoft between 1998 and 2001.

PCR: Following last month’s restructuring of its editorial team, PCR has employed MATTHEW JARVIS as staff writer. Jarvis, a recent University of Kent graduate, is a keen technology enthusiast and wrote and hosted an
HTML-based website at the age of 12. He also wrote for the university newspaper InQuire and several news websites.
ENTATECH: NEIL GILBODY has been appointed as Entatech’s new sales team leader. Working alongside Gilbody will be
BEN DAVIES, who moves from his account manager role to sales induction coordinator.
The team will also include new
product specialists RICHARD LOWES, arriving from BT, and MICHAELA FOREMAN, who is new to the IT industry.
SYNOLOGY: The NAS manufacturer has strengthened its team with six fresh appointments.
KALPESH SAVDAS will be Synology’s sales manager after spending years as an account manager in the web hosting sector. GREG LANGFORD will become
product manager, while Microsoft certified professional BILLY KNOWLES has joined, as well as Mac expert TIMOTHY DRING and server specialist STEFAN FERRARI, who arrive as technical helpdesk consultants. In addition, KEITH KING has joined the RMA team.
MICRO-P: The distributor has appointed DANIEL LENAN as head of commercial. He will focus on continuing to grow and develop Micro-P’s vendor strategies and relationships across the company’s eight business units.
