ere we are again! For parents August means taking inventory of

everything children need for the new school year. Have they outgrown last year’s clothes? What about a new supply of notebooks, pencils, planners, computer paper? A

lot to check on… But what about an adult check list—for parents and non-parents alike? A more serious To-Do list. Are there old theories, opinions, decisions that need revising, updating? Do we need a new supply of caring, intuition, dedication, helpfulness, understanding as we deal day-to- day with others? Is it time for a new plan for our own lives? August is the perfect time to make assessments of all kinds. Each of us knows what the priorities should be….As our children begin a new academic year—with all its uncertainties and anticipations—let us adults make new beginnings of our own.

Happy School Daze to us all! Margaret Jones Bertone, Publisher Never Glossy. Always Green.

Natural Awakenings practices environmental sustainability by using postconsumer recycled paper and soy-based ink on uncoated stock. This choice avoids the toxic chemicals and high energy costs of producing shiny, coated paper that is hard to recycle.
