Christophe Lemaitre - Sprinter

HEAD TO HEAD

on developing dynamic power on the top of my body as well as on the lower parts. I’m currently training to strengthen the muscles of my shoulders

Last winter we focused

or 200m, and it requires physical qualities I just have not developed yet. Right now, I enjoy running 100m and 200m, so running 400m is not on my plan for now.

What were/are your goals for 2013? Obviously there are the World Championships in Moscow this August - obtaining a medal on the 200m will almost certainly mean a great performance. I am also counting on the 100m, and of course on the 4x100m relay. France is growing some very good sprinters, now we want to prove it.

Can you provide a sample training week with key sessions? It’s tough to say because we don’t really have a sample training week. It depends on my shape, so we often adapt with Pierrot. There are nevertheless key sessions such as

weight training, a specific sprint session, a lactic session and technical skills that we do regularly, so I guess that’s as close to a “sample” as we do.

When the difference between winning and losing can be the thickness of a vest, how important

is it to focus on the minute details as well as the bigger picture?

I don’t’ have to tell you that crossing the line in first place can be decided by a thousandth of a second - that’s why the 100m is magic and so intense! Anything you think may help is worth a try, even if it’s

something small. I had changed a few things lately, especially the food that I’m eating. For example, eating more fruit and vegetables has become a good habit. I also pay a lot of attention to the recovery, having sleeps once a day. A kinesiologist is also in charge of my follow-up to aid my recovery.
