The Tour de France 2013 will be the 100th running of the race and looks to have a well-balanced route that should produce a close race from start to fi nish. The race starts in Corsica for the fi rst time on June 29th and will fi nish with an evening stage in the centre of Paris on July 21st.

t will be a race for the all-rounder and will feature a taxing mix of stages with three time trials, stages with climbs to make any set of legs cry for mercy including a double summit of the famous Alp d’ Huez, stages to that will suit the explosive power of the sprinters and hilly stages which should see riders attacking at every possible opportunity. As always there will be three interesting battles taking place throughout that will ensure plenty of strategy, intrigue and action with riders looking to get their hands on the Yellow General Classifi cation jersey, Green Points Classifi cation jersey and the Polka Dot King of the Mountains jersey. The main protagonists for this year’s Tour will not have to beat the current title holder to get their hands on the coveted Yellow Jersey as Bradley Wiggins will not be taking part in
this year’s edition. This leaves second place fi nisher of the 2012 edition Chris Froome as the Team Sky team leader and the widely recognised favourite for top honours. Richie Porte of Team Sky has also been showing good form and a similar situation to what happened last year between Froome and Wiggins isn’t out of the question with two men from Sky taking the top two places overall. Froome has however shown extremely good form throughout 2013 so far and will be riding a wave of confi dence as he embarks on what he will surely consider his moment to write his name into the history books. Australian rider Cadel Evans will be leading
the charge for BMC and will be looking for a strong performance having only managed a disappointing 7th place at last year’s Tour. Similarly to Team Sky, the BMC squad has
