Kitbashing a chlorine car
Plastruct tread plate (above) was cut into sections and used for a deck. Once the containers were constructed, they were placed in the “wells” in the plates. The con- tainers are made from sections of brass tubing with recessed ends made from cardstock and valve covers that were origi- nally emergency beacons. The tank labels were created (right) from a computer pro- gram called The Print Shop.
tubing. This tubing needs to be cut to scale 6′-6″ lengths to make the ten con- tainers, plus spares. Aluminum can be cut easier and may not need paint if you prefer that look. For the ends and the re- cessed cover I punched out cardstock us- ing and extra piece of tubing. Thin styrene can also be used. For valve cov- ers, I used emergency beacons I had left over from an emergency vehicle project. Any part that looks like a valve cover will do. Also I used Chartpak graphic ¹₁₆″ Black Crepe tape for the tie-downs. Select whatever paint colors you prefer. I used tarnished black and stainless steel for the containers.

size, either with a tube cutter, a rotary tool or a razor saw and miter box. After reaming and sanding the edges, cement
