IN BRIEF
COUPLE ESCAPE DEATH IN MULTI-STOREY PLUNGE An elderly couple had a lucky escape after their Kia Cee’d crashed through a barrier in a multi-storey car park before plunging to the ground. The accident happened at
the Tesco car park in Ferndown, Dorset, in April.
The couple, who had to be cut from their car by fire crews, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
CONTROLLED EXPLOSIONS AT GATWICK AIRPORT SITE
A series of controlled explosions was carried out on 1 May at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal car park, following concerns over a van parked there.
A bomb disposal unit was summoned after the untaxed, uninsured and unregistered Renault van was apparently abandoned in the car park. It was
thought to contain something heavy. Two men had earlier driven the van into the car park, pushing up a barrier to gain access before leaving it on the ground floor. Following the explosions, Sussex police said they found ‘nothing of concern’ and were ‘very keen to talk to the men involved’.
UKIP LEADER IN SPOT OF BOTHER
It’s been a rough ride recently for UKIP leader Nigel Farage who landed in hot water in May when his campaign bus was parked over a bay meant for disabled people.
The slip happened when
Farage was campaigning in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. He joins fellow politicians George Osborne and Ed Milliband, both of whom have recently committed parking offences.
