RECORD-BREAKERS FIND THE GAP

Parallel parking may not be the easiest manoeuvre even for the most experienced driver, so imagine parking a car in a space with a 13.1cm gap between the vehicles. Two brothers from Gloucester, Alastair and John Moffatt, managed to break the world record for parallel parking by doing just that. The record was previously held by German driver Ronny Wechselberger at 14cm.

The challenge involved accelerating towards the space between the parked cars and spinning the car sideways into the gap. Watched by cameras and adjudicators, the challenge was completed fi rst in a vintage Mini by John Moffat. The brothers now hold a joint place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
