Father’s Day Run for Two Causes T


he Hewitt Run for a Cause will host its inaugural 5K road race, 1K walk and 400M Kids Fun Run on Father’s Day,


June 16, at Hubbard Park in Meriden. Registration is $30 before June 1 (Tech t-shirt included) and $5 for Kids Fun Run (parents/escorts accompanying their children may run for free). Bib pick-up and day-of registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Start times are 8:45 a.m. for the Kids (2-11 years) 400-yard Fun Run and 9 a.m. for the 5 and 1K races. All Fun Run participants will receive a ribbon. Post-race festivities will begin along Mirror Lake Drive at 9:30 a.m. with music, refreshments and prize drawings. The party will continue at The Village Barn (16 River Road, Meriden). Awards will be offered to winning runners in each category. Proceeds will be donated to Surfer’s Healing (Surfershealing.org), which hosts day camps at the beach for autistic children and their families and The Steve Heck Memorial Fund, which offers an annual scholarship to a deserving baseball player(s) at Maloney High School. The Hewitt Run for a Cause is the evolution of the Hewitt Memorial Golf Tournament which supported The Jimmy Fund for over 20 years in memory of Howard Hewitt. Hewitt’s family, including his wife Patricia, eight sons and daughters and 19 grandchildren will all be present at this Father’s Day race to raise money in his memory for the local charities.

HFI Offers Non-traditional Pastoral Counseling Masters Program

in West Hartford, CT announces a new, non-tradition- al program offering a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counsel- ing (MPC) with concentrations in Integrative Healing or Somatic Expressive Therapy. Devel- oped by, and taught at, HFI, in affiliation with the Graduate Theological Foundation (GTF) of Indiana, the course cur- riculum leading to the MPC degree is psycho/spiritual in nature. This program is for anyone wanting to expand their consciousness who is interested in learning a healing modal- ity which allows for transformation at the core of experience. It will assist students in working from their deepest place of wisdom, integrating theory, skill, self-awareness and integ- rity. The body of knowledge derived from the theory of In-Depth Body Psycho- therapy and


Subtle Energy Healing provides the basis of student’s educa- tion. Students will explore their natural capacity to use both language and non-verbal means of communication. Devel- opment of their own unique embodied spirituality is a cor- nerstone of the program. A commitment to growth as healers provides an energetic invitation for students to explore the issues blocking them from being more grounded and alive and incur a deeper sense of centeredness and vibrancy. No denominational or religious affiliation is necessary.
