To be considered a Maternal Merit Award Cow, a cow must have calved before her 36th month of age and must have had 3 calves with performance records. Those calves must have been raised with 5 or more contemporaries. The Maternal Merit Cow must main- tain a regular calving interval and must maintain a Most Probable Producing Ability of 101 or better. Elite Maternal Merit Cow
winners meet all these criteria. A cow that exceeds these criteria is termed a Supreme Maternal Merit Cow. Owners of 2012 Maternal
