A guide to protection and control One-stop-shop open for business A new range of MCCB panel
A new guide and listing of circuit protec- tion and control equipment for domestic, industrial and commercial applications has been introduced by Lewden Palazzoli. Containing the latest technological advances and design improvements for convenience and reliability, Lewden’s full range of consumer units, MCBs, RCDs, isolators, surge protection devices and control gear is listed under easy to locate sections. The catalogue, titled ‘Circuit Protection’, also features useful technical data that will help specifiers, installers and stockists to select the most appropriate component for their application.
“The content and design has been completely refreshed to reflect new prod- ucts, an expansion in our ranges of enclosures and circuit breakers, changes in installation and specification proce- dures and comments from our cus- tomers,” explained Lewden’s UK market-
ing manager, Guy Birchall.
The new catalogue is available online via the company’s website. Lewden Palazzoli

Manufacturer of electro-mechan- ical and electronic products for circuit protection, E-T-A Circuit Breakers, has launched a new range of miniaturised thermal circuit breakers.
Due to overcurrent, the E-T-A 1657, 1658 and 1659 single-pole circuit breakers are easily and quickly reset after tripping. Between them they offer a choice of current rating and trip- ping characteristics, blade or screw terminals, thread neck or snap-in mounting, and button or auto-reset. Water splash protec- tion for the actuator button is offered as an accessory.
The circuit breakers are well suited for the protection of motors, transformers and cables in a range of industrial and consumer appli- cations. All circuit breakers in the family feature a trip-free, snap- action mechanism ensuring reli- able and automatic disconnection in the event of an overcurrent, even with a blocked actuator button. Each model has different

dimensions and different charac- teristics, and between them they offer a full range of current and voltage ratings for the protection of AC and DC loads. The new E-T-A 1657 is a single- pole, thread neck mounting R- Type TO CBE with EN 60934 and other international approvals. The type 1657 can be specified for applications in a choice of current ratings from 5A to 20A for use on 250V AC or 32V DC, with blade or screw terminals. The E-T-A 1658 is a single-pole
R-Type TO CBE with EN 60934 and other international approvals. The type 1658 can be specified with a thread neck and pushbutton actuation or a flush head with auto-reset functional- ity. It is available in a choice of current ratings from 5A to 30A for use on 240V AC or 28V DC with blade terminals. The new E-T-A 1659 is a single- pole, thread neck mounting R- Type TO CBE with EN 60934 and other international approvals. The type 1659 can be specified for applications in a choice of current ratings from 5A to 30A for use on 250V AC or 32V DC, with blade or screw terminals. Typical protec- tion applications across the range include industrial equipment, power tools, battery chargers, UPS, motors, medical equipment and power generators. E-T-A Circuit Breakers

boards and devices has been intro- duced by Wylex to complement its existing range of MCB distribution boards and consumer units. The new Wylex panel boards are avail- able in two basic frame sizes - NHG125 and NHJ250. For each frame size there is a dedicated range of MCCBs, plus incoming and outgoing, providing the basic elements required to cater for most power installations. With the Wylex panel board system J and G MCCB formations can be mixed and configured on- site into bespoke assemblies. This allows the designer or installer to create the most electrically and economically appropriate system for any installation. To each NHJ unit the installer can add NHJ or NHG extension units that incor- porate 2, 4, 6 or 8 additional TP ways for NHJ or NHG outgoing devices. With this flexibility, it is possible to mix and match busbar systems and outgoing devices into customised assemblies with the right number of outgoing ways and the most appropriate mix of devices for each installation. From a few standard off the shelf components, Wylex installers can create many dif- ferent panel board configura- tions. Adding these new panel boards and devices alongside
the existing circuit protection range gives Wylex the facility to offer customers a one-stop-shop for industrial, commercial, resi- dential and domestic circuit protection systems. Wylex panel boards are designed and manufactured in the UK to BSEN 61439-2 2009, and are fully ROHS compliant. Standard assemblies are Form 3b type 2. To complete the range for each size of panel board there is a matching suite of cable ways and metering enclosures, metering kits complete with pre-wired connection looms, lightning and surge arrestor kits and a range of accessories. Add-on block provides 3-phase earth leakage protection
Hager has launched a One Module Add- on RCD Block that provides 3-phase earth leakage protection when paired with any of the company’s MCBs, up to 63A. Available in variants of 30mA, 100mA and 300mA, the Add-on Block is suitable for use in any Hager distrib- ution board and, when combined with an MCB, provides both over current and earth leakage protection for that circuit. Unlike many other devices, the Add-on Block and MCB pairing requires just four mod- ule widths and removes the need to wire between a DIN mounted RCD and MCB. This leads to a significant reduction in installation time and associated costs and important- ly, the size of the distribution board.
Commenting on the launch, Hager’s market manager Stephen Dyson said, “Wiring between DIN mounted RCCBs and MCBs can be time consuming and expensive. We have designed the Add-on Block to be simple and practical to use, whilst still providing 3-phase earth leakage protection. “In addition, unlike many brands that require specific part numbers for current rating and sensitivities, the Add-on Block suits any combination of Hager 10kA MCB (B, C, or D curve) up to 63A.” As an added safeguard, the ‘Type A’ Add-on Block provides protection against any ‘pul- sating DC component’ generating from loads such as power tools or motor speed controllers.
