suppliernews edited by Kate Hamilton (kh@globespanmedia.com) Dimplex works it out

Renewables firm Dimplex is making life easier for installers with a new online calculator to help with working out the heating requirements of a building and selecting the most appropriate heat pump and ancillary equipment. The new heat pump sizing tool allows users to input details about the project they’re working on, generating a report that can be used to give homeowners a useful estimate of costs before they decide to proceed to a full quotation, saving valuable time and allowing more initial enquiries to be handled quickly and efficiently. The report includes a summary of the recommended equipment for the project with prices and the relevant product datasheets, a calculation of the expected savings against the current fuel type, and a hydraulic showing how all the components connect together. To make specification simple, the calculator also compares a selection of recommended Dimplex heat pump packages, allowing the installer to view what equipment is included in each package, as well as examine the running cost estimates. www.dimplexheatpumpcalculator.co.uk

Superglass claims supplier award

Superglass Insulation, the only independent manufacturer of fibre glass insulation in the UK, has announced that it has received the award for ‘Insulation & Plasterboard Supplier of the year’ from The Cemco Merchant Network at its recent heavyside and timber supplier awards dinner. Superglass demonstrated it is a supplier that has fully embraced the Cemco way of working and therefore met the criteria of outstanding service quality, product and sales development, good relations with Cemco members and quality of contact. The members of Cemco recognised Superglass’ continuous hard work in a difficult marketplace and subsequently voted the company as the winner. Sales and marketing director Allan During said: “This award further emphasises Superglass’ overall strategic approach in providing a ‘differential’ for merchants and housebuilders while offering real value-added opportunities. This is all part of Superglass’ transformational investment programme, Project Phoenix, where the installation of new fiberising technology has enabled us to meet the increasing demands of the marketplace in terms of competitive pricing, product quality and specification.” www.superglass.co.uk

Saint-Gobain Weber offers training scheme Saint-Gobain Weber has introduced an Operative Competence and Training assessment scheme for Green Deal Installers (GDI) for its external wall insulation (EWI) systems. To operate as a certified external wall GDI, companies must demonstrate that they employ a workforce that is competent in the application of each specific EWI system used, regardless of the manufacturer. This can be achieved through training and the achievement of qualifications to meet PAS 2030 certification. The preferred route is through NVQ qualifications for existing EWI operatives and trades people, such as plasterers and dryliners, up-skilling to EWI application. This training also attracts government funding and results in a lifetime qualification in Insulation & Building Treatments in EWI. www.netweber.co.uk
