Best of Show honors were given to Peter Howe and his life-like Grumman TBM-3E Avenger(above left). The Atlantic II scheme shows up well on a well used but maintained naval aircraft. The torpedo bay doors, split flaps and detailed gear wells are fully shown thanks to a mirror (above right) placed under

the model. Gerald Sanderson’s Curtiss Jenny JN-4 (below left) earned a second place in Military Sport Scale. The model features an electric motor for power, a trend that continues to grow in the scale segment. Edward Hazlett Sr. built this TC-4C Academe(below right) and placed third.

The Sport category was one of the most popular of categories. When it’s time for the Dark Knight (above left) to rise into action, he employs the use of his Batwing. Mark Hamel produced this amazing turbine powered model. While based purely on science fiction, it had elements of a full scale aircraft. Robert

Grossman’s deHavilland DH-2 (above right) featured a detailed rotary engine, stitching, cockpit and enough to bring a second place win. This fanciful Fokker D.VII (below left) was built by Kenneth W. Barnes and placed third. A neat little Lovings Love WR-1 Racer(below left), was built by Jeff Maruscher.
