S.I.R. Golf 2013 H
ello and welcome to another year of fun S.I.R. Golf. I am the new state golf chair for 2013. My hope is
that we all have a fun year filled with great golf experiences. As more and more of our golfers have computers and use the Internet, S.I.R. State Golf has an excellent website managed by Rich Seyler. You can easily access and review information at
www.sirstategolf.com. Some of information available to you includes schedules of upcoming tournaments, the dates of qualifiers for teams and individuals, holes-in-one results, the golf manual, maps to golf courses and a host other useful information about S.I.R. Golf.
S.I.R. NCGA Membership As you know, membership is down 17% at the branch
level and that number shows in our S.I.R. NCGA membership. We now have a total of 4,770 members of S.I.R. NCGA. Operation Chair Don Dill has a contest offering a prize of a weekend for two in Reno. For contest details please ask your branch or area chairman. In Don’s last email he closed with “Who’s got it better than us? Nobody!” So get out there and get your branches and areas recruiting new members.
Tee it Forward An article in a past edition of NCGA Golf discussed
playing from the forward tees for seniors. It took a while for me to finally accept using those shorter tees but it has resulted in better scoring, and the better the score the more fun I have. It was my ego that held me back for so long. One stat the article mentioned is that if your average tee shot is 225 yards you can comfortably play a course that measures 5,800 to 6,000 yards. The average 175-yard hitter should be playing at 4,400 to 4,600 yards. If you want to have more fun, try it.
