usiness in Sport and Leisure (BISL), the strategic body representing the private sector in the sports and leisure industry, has signed a
memorandum of understanding on jobs with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Employment Minister, Mark Hoban MP. At present the leisure sector provides 2.6 million jobs in the UK,
accounting for nine per cent of all UK employment. Approximately 30 per cent of those employed are aged 16-25 and
44%of those in management positions are women. BISL has established a Jobs Forum to encourage recruitment by
employers through incentives such as National Insurance contribution exemptions and the Wage Incentive Programme, which is operated by DWP.
Mark Hoban MP, said: “I want to make sure all young people have a
good start to their careers – that is why it is important for the Government to work with employers and trade associations.” “So I’m really pleased to be signing partnership agreements with six
major trade associations, including Business in Sport and Leisure.” “This will help us to promote schemes such as our Youth Contract
wage incentive to more than 400,000 employers and create more opportunities for young jobseekers across the country.” BISL Director, Andy Sutch, said: “This is good news. The signing of
the Memorandum of Understanding between BISL and the DWP will ensure that employers within the the sports and leisure sector will know more of the benefits available to them, such as the Wage Incentive.” “The Government is keen to support young people into jobs in the
sport and leisure sector – a sector which is seen by many as offering attractive job opportunities.”
N
ew from Namco Prize Europe is a range of cuddly, cute Purcats, which come in four characters; Biscuit, Everest, Domino and Blue-Bell! “Purcats is one of our own-brand products that we launched in 2013,” said
James Anderson, General Manager at Namco Prize Europe. “The initial test results on this range of 15cm high characters has been extremely positive and the repeat orders are coming in thick and fast.” “We came up with the concept for Purcats following extensive market
research,” he continued. “We knew that cats were the most common household pet and we developed various designs, fine-tuned them over time, before we came up with the finished product.” Darrell Simmonds of Brent Electronics, said the Purcats range had been an
instant success. “We are already receiving repeat orders for them they have huge appeal, particularly when arcades use the artwork kits as well”. Tracey Graham of Non-Such Amusements in Saltcoats, Scotland was
impressed with the range. “Purcats are proving to be extremely popular as crane stock and my own kids wanted them as soon as we got them as well,” she said. “So of course, ‘the magic key’ was used so that they could have one. They still take them to bed every night, so I know first hand that they are a big hit with 6 and 7-year-olds!” Like all Namco Prize Europe plush, Purcats are retail quality and offer
amazing value for money. “The income we have seen on testing has been impressive for this range and we have had a good deal of interest from retail outlets, as well,” said Anderson. Purcats are
available exclusively in the UK through Brent Electronic. Artwork kits are also available to complement the Purcats range and to boost income by reinforcing the brand in cranes and prize vending machines.
Give Jukeboxes a lift with Soundnet’s Free Booster Service A
and we will use this information, along with any extra site data provided by the operator to create a perfect Booster pack to maximise profits,” said Soundnet’s Toby Hoyte. “We offer this amazing service free of charge, because we believe it is in everyone’s best interests to have jukeboxes performing at their maximum capacity.” Gary Blake atWCA Ltd finds the service particularly valuable. “Soundnet’s
Booster pack is an innovative and essential tool for any digital jukebox operator,” he said. “It gives me the flexibility to rejuvenate any tired jukeboxes that have been around
the estate for a few years. Sometimes the constant update of new music and the removal of the least-played tracks can leave a jukebox a little patchy in certain genres. The Booster pack enables me to refresh the music and add to genres according to a site’s request, without the need for a hard-drive exchange. Incredibly it’s free and you donít get that often these days!”
