SG Gaming announce sale of pub business
Limited. The pub business will be incorporated into Astra’s Gamestec division, a leading operator of gaming machines for the UK pub retail sector. Phil Horne, Group Managing Director, UK, for SG Gaming, said, “Server-
S
based gaming is the focal point of our business and our licensed betting office, bingo and arcade operators have fully embraced this solution. However, following a lengthy strategic review, we believe that the pub industry is not able to support the entirety of our solution at this time.” “We are delighted to sell the pub business to Astra’s Gamestec division,
which is known for its outstanding service and support to pub retailers. This action will allow us to focus our resources on the LBO, arcade, bingo and interactive sectors, helping to further drive innovation and operational efficiencies in our retained business.”
Osborne scraps Beer Duty Escalator
I
n good news for the beleaguered pub industry, Chancellor George Osborne has scrapped the controversial beer duty escalator and taken a penny off the price of a pint. He has
however decided to keep the rise for other forms of alcohol. It’s estimated that the move will cost the UK treasury around
£70m in lost revenue. A Whitehall source quoted in The Sun said: “George can’t afford
to do much for anyone this year as the state of public finances is still so bad. But he wants to do what he can to help working Brits – and that means making a well-earned pint at the end of the day a little cheaper.” Brought in by the previous Labour government, the escalator
pushes up the levy by 2% on top of inflation every year, meaning duty on alcohol has jump by 42% since its launch in 2008.
G Gaming, a division of Scientific Games Corporation, has announced the completion of the sale of its Games Media pub business to Astra Games
JPMi Takes Gaming To A New Dimension
J
PM Interactive has launched the latest title in its popular progressive jackpot Max Power series. Aimed at players who enjoy the high frequency Max Power
progressive jackpot payouts, 4th Dimension is a four reel multi stake lo-tech game combining three basic reels with a fourth reel feature which, when activated, offers players five options including increasing the standard number of win lines from five to 27, a x2 multiplier and a very unusual award which adds a vertical win line on each reel. The fourth reel can also activate a wild ‘star’ symbol which can be used to complete any win line. A Turbo Gamble multiplier ladder enables wins to be gambled up to
a maximum of twenty times and the game boasts both Auto Play and a Turbo Play mode for speed, selectable at the player’s discretion. JPMi Managing
Director Andrew Davies is proud of the company’s latest release. “The Max Power bonus concept has been developed from its phenomenally successful land based counterpart and 4th Dimension Max Power really does add an additional element to online game play and will be joining three existing games in the Max Power series.” “For the player this is great news as the addition of a new Max
Power game should increase the payout frequency of the Max Power jackpot which is all based around smaller amounts being won daily rather one large sum only being won once every few months,” he revealed.
